Those are even worse.ahaugen wrote:what about "theatre" and "centre"?
It makes it sound like 'Theat-Re' and 'Cent-Re', not 'TheatER' and 'CentER' like it's supposed to be. I like words that are spelled the way they are pronounced. It's much easier that way. Thats why I hate the U's. They make the words look awkward. 'Our' is pronounced similarly to 'Are', so when a word has 'our' in it, instead of simply 'or' in it, like 'color' vs. 'colour' you can see why I prefer 'color'. It's because I pronounce it 'Col-Or' not 'Col-Our'.

Dictatorships are good because they give people guidance, and morals and stuff...
Someday, someday I'll finish Confabulation. That day is not today, however.

Very true, his day with his back to the wall, blind fold on the eyes, and cigarette in the mouth.

Yes, do keep in mind that Andrew Jackson had genocidal tendancies and a rather bad temper. Something about wanting to have one of his soldiers executed as a traitor for taking a needed break, though I forget if it was to eat or sleep. He also greatly furthered the spoils system that's sticking with us today...i.e. rewarding your friends in the political arena. Though I'm sure there's always been some of that...it's just a matter of degree.
