The music thread
It all goes here, anything music related. Which bands you listen to, which songs you like, lyrics you've written, etc.
I'll start off... A song I can't get enough of is "Point / Counter Point". It's a song by Streetlight Manifesto (Ska-Punk). This song has some of the most depressing lyrics you will ever hear :
"I've got a gun in my hand
But that gun won't cock,
And my finger's on the trigger
But that trigger seems locked,
And I can't stop staring at the tick tock clock
And even if I could, I would never give up.
With a vest on my chest and a bullet in my lung
I can't believe I'm dying with my song unsung.
And if and when I die won't you bury me alone?
Because I'll never get to heaven if I'm singing this song:"
Except its not... it's actually a really cheery song, and the intro is one of the best ever. This is one of the reasons why I love ska-punk so much. Like other forms of music, it deals with the ups and the downs, but no matter which way it goes, it always makes you feel like getting up and kicking around.

Art rock rocks.

Art rock rocks.

Someday, someday I'll finish Confabulation. That day is not today, however.

I rediscovered my love for old music lately, though my taste is all in all pretty eclectic anyway, I guess. Been listening to jazz, folk blues, and such, along with the occasional rock and "alternative" (or my definition of it)...
Anyway, I'm in a folky mood today. So I relaxed a bit by singing Donovan and Bob Dylan. I still suck at teh guitarplaying.

Paul Simon, Bob Dylan, Soft Cell...
Right now I'm listening to a little band I saw playing back-up at a Brigade gig and got the CD of - forget their name, though. I like that Damien O something guy too. The one that (you know) all Australian travellers listen to.
Love Greenday. They're a band that I've followed since I was a teen (you know, everyone has a band that grows with them) and they've never disappointed me, politically or musically. I love the way their lyrics matured from teen angst to a real political sensibility.
Also love Come to Bedrock by Foetus (his music is great) - gotta love a song with the lyrics: A woman's place is on my face

Bah, it's obvious that you're making up names! You're probably listening to Radiohead right now!PeppermintAfterlife wrote:Antonin Dvorak, Astor Piazzola, Gustav Mahler, John Corigliano, and the Drum Corps International 2006 quarter finals APDs. Phantom Regiment crushes all with the power of Biebl's Ave Maria.
