The Death of Garfield
Found this on YTMND this morning, and it was the first time I've ever seen anything of the like.
You guys ever seen these strips before?

I saw those on Sunday, and they put me in a rather down sort of mood for most of the day. I don't think Garfield is actually "dead" in these comics. They seem to be more of a vision of a future where he's alone and abandoned, and he realizes that friends and family is more important than anything else.

they're actually on the offical garfield website as well if you shuffle through the vault of it.
I only vaugely remember the strips running in the newspaper, but I do know that they were in one of the collection books that I got for christmas one year, like back in the 3rd grade or so. I doubt I even still have it though.

Really? It's not like the strips retconned the whole series. The Neko wrote:I remember these comics, I found it strange that there was this depressing, dark version in the middle of a normal gag strip.
Seems more like Jim pulled a Tommy Westphall more than he pulled an Evangelion.
Which would be funny.
Because, as it turns out, Garfeild is really a college Freshman in southern Utah, suffering from an intense acid hallucination that makes him think he's an obese cat in a small suburban town...
And then on his way to school, he is mauled to death by a small yellow dog with a black spot.Tyras wrote:Really?
