The worst show on TV?

Post by Toxic »

It's obvious what the best show on TV is - Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List.

I was discussing with others what the worst show on TV currently is. A high contender is Maury. I watch a few minutes of it on occasion (usually while doing laundry), and it seems like every episode consists of paternity tests for women who can't keep their legs closed. My previous long-standing choice was MTV's spoiled-teen "reality" soap opera Laguna Beach.

However, my choice for the ultimate worst now goes to MTV's My Super Sweet 16. I had heard a lot of negative buzz about it, and ended up watching half of an episode out of curiosity. My IQ decreased several points as a result. I think a much better premise would be giving these girls their $200,000 Sweet 16 parties - and then sending them to live in a third world country for a year with no cell phones or credit cards.

Big Brother, Survivor, everything on MTV except for those good cartoons they sometimes have (Bastards! WHERE'S MY DARIA?!), all reality TV in general, soap operas, Debbie Travis, and any show you can hear the words "my baby's daddy" with the exception of comedy routines.

That said I like court TV shows like the People's Court in between cartoons and CNN.

Big Brother. No contest.

Seriously, the ONLY reason anyone watches that crap is because they put it on at prime time... And then two hours after prime time... And then all bloody night after that. Of COURSE they're going to get the ratings from it, but it isn't because people wouldn't rather watch something ELSE.

Sweet Zombie Jesus...

I'd have to say all of them. I don't know why the producers even try anymore.

I just hate how MTV makes these good cartoons and then stops after 1 season.

Now, worst show on TV? I don't watch alot of live action shows actually, so I can't comment on that, but for cartoons I really hate Bratz. I know, I know, it's a little girls show and I'm not suposed to like it, but it's really really stupid.
Plus, it gives the same message to girls as does Brittney Spears and Chrisitina Agulera.

I hate how MTV has TV shows... and now MTV2 has more shows than videos... what's the point? Show videos... you too, VH-1... Behind the music works and shows like storytellers where music is performed are cool, but nix the surreal life, it's out of place.

Now granted, MTV had cool cartoons (Daria, Aeon Flux and Liquid TV) but they had no place there.

I wouldn't know cause I live in Canada and MTV's not on cable, and if it is then it costs extra.

Teletoon sometimes gets cartoons that were on MTV tho, so yeah.

My Life on the D-List is seriously the most fun I've had watching TV in ages. If only it was on Canadian cable...

Well, like it or not, MTV became more than just "music television," it became a voice for youth culture. Simply playing videos wasn't gonna work, because they had to support the entire lifestyle, the whole attitude, for the average pop-music addicted hipster. So complementing their videos with programming that sprang from the same state of mind just made sense. The problem came when they abandoned videos, and then rebellious youth culture, for frat boys and sorority girls and rich assholes from California.

That it's so hard to find videos on MTV2 is inexcusable.

To me, Daria represents the last good piece of programming Mtv had.

I have Cop Rock on tape. My sister got it in a film class as an example of pure suck.

You know, one thing that amuses me about My Super Sweet 16 is one day, these dads are gonna cut these kids off, and then they'll be out alone in the world with no skills, and end up going to prostitution to make the money for their lavish lifestyles. After the girls end up with every STD known to man, and some that aren't...

Aaah, that dream makes me want to get a cigarette. And I don't even smoke.
