Hormones to help offset any imbalances in the dog's system that could harm the unborn puppies during the gestation period. They can be administered in liquid form as shown in the strip, but sometimes they're fed to the dog as wafers or dog biscuits.

I'm fairly certain someone was offended by this questionable strip.

To be blunt; you know nothing about people or comics.
I think you're a hypocrite for talking about Jim's "lack of intelligent writing" when your own comic is DEVOID of INTELLIGENCE; PERIOD!

The fact is these people are doing something right to get them where they are, and the people who complain about them instead of figuring out what these people are doing right are just a bunch of nobodies who will amount to nothing.

If you spent more effort learning from Garfield instead of simply hating it maybe you'd actually learn something. I hate Scott Kurtz, but the man knows what he's doing and in so provides a valuable lesson.

You just got Van'd.
You know, I could have answered to that too, but what's the point? Apparently, whenever someone says something you're unable to arguement against, you restrain to personal attacks, attack people's intelligence while fussing and hissing whenever you think that someone is insulting yours (even if you've just imagined it), and simply cannot have a single arguement without attacking someone on personal basis.

Instead I'll just do my basic mod duties and proceed this to Merc.

I figured it was something like that. But I still like to imagine what manner of complaints they got in the mail after that strip ran.

That's right. I always underestimate the stupidity of some people. I should know better by now.

(I'm talking about the people who filed complaints, not you guys for pointing them out.)

I've got the first or second Garfield book lying around the house somewhere, and some of those strips were actually pretty funny.
But I agree with the "getting tired of it" comments - it's all the same joke. But so long as people keep reading it, it's never going to go away. And that was the point of the whole comic in the first place, wasn't it?

So, yes, I'm tired of Garfield too (although I still skim over it when reading the Sunday comics), but I commend Jim Davis for having created such a lasting comic.

I have the entire Far Side collection. You should see some of the compaints people've had over some of those strips! Funny stuff.

My favorite one is where the paper mixed up the caption on the strips between the Far Side and Dennis the Menace. If I could find it off hand I'd scan and share.

Noted, but I don't make that decision.

I was just reading that Far Side book again today. I'd scan some pages if I could.

Wow...where'd this 9 page topic spring up from? How'd I miss this?

Anyways, looking past most of the arguing, I'm going to declare something shocking. Something that will put me at odds with the collective opinion of the Internet and make me kind of agree with Van on something (oh my!)...

...I like Garfield. Yes, since apparently everyone else on the planet thinks it's the worst most unfunny thing ever I and about half a dozen other people are repsonsible for making it the most succesful comic strip in history.

Really, if you have to pick on a syndicated newspaper strip there are so many better candidates.

Hi and Lois, Family Circus, Beatle Bailey, B.C., and the fantastically boring soap-opera strips...Garfield isn't fabulous, but it's not bad...and the kids in particular love it.

They're all lousy (almost every syndicated comic I've seen is) but Garfield is much more successful and prestigious than the others. Like I pointed out, a movie, video games, a TV show, books, merchandise, the works.

I just don't see anything to like about it. It's the same few bland jokes repeated over and over for years, and I haven't seen any of the fun supporting characters (Nermal, Arlene, Liz, Irma, Pooky, Jon's family) in a long time.

That just gave me a weird idea to do some kind of guest comic for Garfield. Like, not a parody, but something more serious and long. Or maybe I need to go to bed now. It's a fun idea in my head though.

I turned up my sound to hear it and was like, 'Why is the Sorcerer Hunters theme playing in the background?" then I realized my mp3 player was still running. -_-
