I was told that it was always Peach, it's just that they didn't start calling her that in the US versions till the N64 came out. King Koopa and Bowser are the same guy. Technically, he's Bowser, king of the Koopas.

Well some one told me once that Bowser was Koopa's son or nephew or something. :(

Samus without the armor sounds cool though. That was the only flaw with Super Metroid in my opinion.
actually, there were a few metal gear games that appeared on the NES systems way back when, so snake is a nintendo character, truth be told.

There were the Koopa Kids in SMB3. But they were Larry, Morton, Wendy, Iggy, Roy, Lemmy and Ludwig. No Bowser. I think the general concensus is that King Koopa and Bowser are one in the same.

The Metal Gear series was made by Konami. Most of the early games were released on the NES, but the character still belongs to Konami, not Nintendo. Pokemon, however, were created and are owned by Nintendo, which is why they appear in SSB.

Oh, I should've clarified. I meant first party characters. Metal Gear on NES is a Konami game which was published under the name Ultra.

EDIT: Ooooo, I'm too slow.

Hmmm, I thought nintendo just owned pokemon. I still don't like them though.

Be fair, Snake has always had a good relationship with nintendo. Mario and Yoshi were even in 'The Twin Snakes' (that was the remake of the original PS1 version).

I think they should include King Boo in the game. He'd be awesome. Although he could only attack when the opponent's back was turned...Much like the strategies of Solid Snake himself.

I definitely feel like Bowser was called Bowser in the original Mario instruction book. Like, "King Koopa AKA Bowser," or something.

Are they gonna have Samus in her regular suit, too? She looks good outside of it and everything, but her space suit is classic.

Lolo should be a new character. And a Belmont of some sort. And Ryu Hayubasa.

Holy crap, Lolo. I hated that game. I could never figure out how to pass a certain level. I tried for days to figure it out and I couldn't . I finally had to give up. It was more frustrating than anything.

Definitely Lolo, since Hal is the one making it.

They were made by different groups than that what made the "actual" SMB games. What you're calling SMB2 is actually SMB USA . . . the real SMB2 you can play as "The Lost Levels" on Super Mario All-Stars. As a result, the vast majority of SMB USA and SML were swept out the door, and only a few stragglers (the Shyguys and Princess Daisy, as the most obvious examples) made the cut and can still be found in Mario games today.

actually if I'm not mistaken Bowser was the villian in the first SMB game not Koopa.

Well why don't I just settle this right now? I happen to have an instruction booklet from the original SMB...just lemme dig it out...

You are correct, Yeahduff. Page 16, "Bowser, King of the Koopa: The sorcerer king holding Princess Toadstool captive in the last castle, blah blah blah"

Good memory, man :)

More delicious info on the SMB2 stuff.

If I had to vote for a character insertion in SSB it would be between including Sonic characters or Final Fantasy characters.

I mean, nothing would be cooler than Sephiroth stabbing Pikachu.

I wouldn't mind seeing Cid Highwind impale him with his spear with one of those super-high dragoon jumps. Or RedXIII just simply eating him. Not likely to happen, but a fun mental picture.
