The other night when I came home from work there was a cat on the second floor landing...we live right across from a little forest, so occasionally stray cats and raccoons and deer, etc, come around. But then yesterday when I got home for lunch, the cat was laying right outside my apartment door!



So I put some cat food (I keep a bag below the counter in case any strays happen by) and water outside the door when I left again yesterday. He wasn't here when I got home last night, but we have the door open today, and about 15 minutes ago Jim happened to look over and see him walking past, to the food...a few minutes later he came inside! Here he is sitting on Jim's lap.



We're not actually allowed to have pets here...but if he only comes in every once in awhile, the landlords need never know, right?

I love the look on his face in the first one.

just be careful with strays, you might not actually be able to own him but if he's gonna hang around you guys that much you might want to have a vet check him out.

Unfortunately, they will. We've asked time and again if there's ANY way that we could have a cat. If it was just the apartment managers, they wouldn't mind. But the owners of the buildings do care. Stupid pet-hating people!

I really wish we could, but we can't afford something like that. If he does stick around, though, maybe someone else will! I'm sure there're plenty of cat-loving people in our complex. In the meantime, we can at least take as good care of him as we can when he comes around, by leaving out food and water, and if he has ticks, taking them off.

there are however other things to worry about disease wise, be very careful.

We will! We've been around cats for pretty much ever (Jim more than me, though) so we know to watch out for stuff like that.

Well I'm not exactly sqeamish, but still, picking the ticks of some cat just because it wanders into your house...its just more dedication to animals than sending some charity a dollar a month or something

Kitty! Oddly enough there aren't many strays around my neighborhood.

Well, both of us are obsessed with cats, ya know. Besides, that's just the way I was raised with the animals...if you see a tick, get it off. The less ticks the animal has, the less chance of it getting lime disease or something.

A) Damn, I actually forgot about rabies, sorry, its just that around here its pretty much nonexistant
B) I think Kat is adult enough to realise a cat that's foaming at the mouth might be best left alone. Unlike my bro who'll try and pick it up by the tail

This one's showing all the signs of being a perfectly normal cat thus far. Actually, I think he must have either just been dumped here by the apartments recently, or maybe "belongs" to someone else close by and decided to wander off for a bit, by the way he's acting. Not feral at all.
