Yeah, my old boss had a story about her own ghostly experience that pretty much matched that exactly, including the pressure on her chest.

I get Sleep Paralysis, but other than the one time I had it after a nightmare, the most frightening sounds I've imagined has to be my mom yelling at me to get up because it's past noon, which it's normally around 4 or 5am....

my imagination must be a dull place at 4 am.

When I was very young I used to psyche myself out a lot because I was really into the paranormal. Ghosts, monsters, UFOs, I devoured anything about them I could get my hands on.

It kinda messed me up for a few years, though. I think one of the moments that most clearly illustrated to me that I was literally driving myself to hallucinations rather than witness anything supernatural was when I watched a perfectly fully formed ghostly apparition of my aunt walk into my bedroom door and scowl at me furiously before vanishing. My aunt's still alive.

Ooh, sleep paralysis. Fun. The few times that happened to me, my first thought was that I'd somehow managed to fracture my spine while I slept.

In Britain and Nordic areas there's many legends about black dogs, but I forget their respective names.

Yep. The only problem with scientific explanation is that real paranormal phenomena can't be explained scientificly. There will never be an exact science to ghosthunting and the like, as the methods best used are based in paranormal phenomena themselves.


If only had one paranormal experience. Well, not me. My dad did, and it was with me. He got up hearing odd noises and came downstairs to find me sitting up in bed with the lights off staring into a corner and yelling in a strange voice at something to leave. He opened the lights and asked what was going on and I replied "Nothing" before I lay back down and returned to sleep.

I didn't remember the incident until monthes later when he brought it up and I vaguely remember things. I remember my room being lit and a dark shadow in the corner. Then I remember the actual lights of the room turning on and my dad asking something.

Totally bizarre, but I am known to sleepwalk and perform various tasks while asleep so I could have been lucid dreaming or hallucinating.

I've never had anything spooky happen to me, although since I had surgery I regularly wake up with zero feeling in my arm.

My dad had one though. He used to live in southern california, and one night at like 4am he was driving home along this curvy road. It was back in the seventies and there were like no cars, he hadn't seen any for hours. He's coming up to this curve and suddenly gets this intense feeling to take it really tight to the inside. As he's coming around the curve, seriously almost half on the shoulder, TWO cars come the other way, and one of the cars is passing the other.

For a split second, three cars are abreast on a curve going about 60 mph on a two lane road at 4am.

If my dad hadn't had that feeling and cut it way inside, he wouldn't be here... and neither would I.

There are some schools of thought that believe you can actually create a real spirit through specific concentration of your own mental energies.

I never really had any ghost experences. Though I remember a while back, at my dads house. There was something strange. I called ot the 3rd shelf ghost. There was this little bear on a glass shelf. And one day, I noticed that it was at the very edge of the shelf. Looking like it was ready to fall off. So I moved it back twards the back of the shelf. A few days later, I noticed it was back at the edge of the shelf. So I moved it back. And then a few days later. Again it was back at the edge of the shelf. This went on for a good year, till they moved from that house.

psh, everyone knows MTV is just another scary story told to small children.

BTW, did anyone watch "Truth or Fiction" when they were younger? I used to watch this...I think 6-7 years ago. It was a show where they'd tell you this urban legend, and you'd have to guess if it really happened or not. Some of that crap was creepy.

Do you mean "Beyond Belief: Fact or Fiction?" The Sci-Fi channel still airs it sometimes (though usually the ones hosted by Jonathan Frakes, it seems) and a lot of it was indeed creepy. I hate it when I can remember a lot of the stories, but not whether they were based on fact or not (which is basically all the time).
