Unofficial poll on Postcounts
The original poll was taken away, and I'm genuinely curious, plus I feel the members should have a say in something like this.
This is not a flame thread nor a thread to start a new arguement. It's just to give an idea of how people feel about postcounts and if they should be visible or remain hidden. Please don't hijack it or turn it into a new thread for argueing about it. You're welcome to give your reasons, briefly, in a response.
"Remain Visible" means you are voting to have the postcounts visible under the username, as they have been in the past.
"Remain Hidden" means you are voting not to have postcounts visible under the username (the current situation).
The poll will operate for seven days, the same time for the original poll.
Remain Visible - I like postcounts for whatever reason
Remain Visible - Other people like them; I don't care either way.
Remain Visible - Other reason
Remain Hidden - I do not like postcounts for whatever reason
Remain Hidden - Other people don't like them; I don't care either way.

Foiled by their own philosophy!ryclaude wrote:if they were truly apathetic they wouldnt even click thatVorticus wrote:And as is with the case with most internet polls, I can see the "apathy" option getting the most votes. Which is probably why it wasn't included.

Well, in spite of rampant apathy, the love of post counts persists.
Edit: I find it rather funny that I am entering postwhore territory in these threads. ;>_>

I was beginning to wonder if my browser hated me, not showing users' post counts in the threads (the same with the "Views" count for each thread); I couldn't fathom why they would be deactivated, since it seems like most other forums have them.
I dunno why I like them... maybe it's just nice to see at a glance how active a poster is, and what the chances are of seeing a post/response from them.

In order to clearly see what is in the shadows, you must first enter them.

I think the point is that in the past, people have criticized decisions made by administrators without properly consulting the people they will affect. If we have a long discussion followed by a good poll with a majority outcome, it will be much harder for people who disagree to cry "foul".mcDuffies wrote:I don't think results of this poll will surprise anyone.
I mean, honestly, when this has blown over, I won't hold a grudge, whatever the result, as I'll know that it was reached in a fair manner.
And with that, I bid y'all farewell for a few hours at least -- the books, they call; exams this week. T_T

This is why I did not include it, exactly correct. If you don't have an opinion at all on the topic, then you can't be logically affected by either outcome. Those people who do have an opinion, who could be affected, need to vote.Vorticus wrote:And as is with the case with most internet polls, I can see the "apathy" option getting the most votes.
