My Scanner Refuses to Work.

I have owned a Canoscan D646U for about 3-4 years now. When I first got it, it worked fine. I used it very actively from the time I got it until about a year afterwards. Then I stopped using it for about three months. When I went to scan something again, I got a message saying The TWAIN Drivers could not be found. I tried everything I could to get it working again, uninstalling/reinstalling the software and drivers, downloading new drivers, etcetera, nothing worked.

I was frustrated, but could not be bothered to expend any more effort on getting it to work as I didn't really need a scanner any longer at that point.

I now have need of a scanner again, and as I have since upgraded my OS from Windows 98 SE to Windows 2000 Professional, I thought I might try to get it to work once more before buying another one.

When I installed it again, and tried to scan something, I got a Spanish message that says (Or so I assume.) there is some problem with the calibration of the scanner.

I have also followed the instructions outlined in this article on the Canon site, but to no avail.

Once again, no matter what I do, I cannot get it to work, so I turn to you for help.

And if I still can't get it to work, I am going to take a bat to it and buy another one. (Sure as hell won't get a Canon, though.)

Help is mainly for CG-related problems. I'd move it to TT&T but the chances are better for someone who knows the solution to see it here.

Eh....you have a point, McDuff.
