Everytime you talk about music, someone has to bring in Radiohead. Why do people not realize how tragically bad Radiohead is? His voice is so whiny, the only song I can stand is Mixamatosis, which is the only song where they haven't engineered his voice to sound like god being played by eeyore.

That being said, I also can't stand Pink Floyd so that might be it. In the tridium of Beatles, Pink Floyd, and the Rolling Stones I'm a Beatles girl.

I started listening to All-American Rejects a lot. And I discovered Animassacre recently since I started getting into techno and electronica...

though oddly enough I've been to busy to really pay to much attention to music lately.

btw those who like BK should check the new Sleater-Kenny album if you haven't. Its amazing its called The Woods..

I haven't really been kicked in the face by any new bands since the new year, but I religiously listen to Coheed and Cambria, and I am starting to listen to Fallout Boy more as well. This is because I've been stalking Tynan and documenting his actions, so I hear his music too. (kidding?...)

I guess some of the newest bands I discovered would be From First To Last, Against Me!, Streetlight Manifesto, the Flatliners, and In Flames. I've been listening to Mindless Self-Indulgence more lately too. They're pretty cool.

Meh, I got a CD of The Killers. Not bad, though some of their songs are too catchy.

Madrugada. A Norwegian band. (English songs though).

Toshiro Masuda, the guy behind Naruto's soundtrack. The music makes me want to run around like an idiot and pretend I'm some sort of ronin.

Well, of the new groups that I discovered lately... Kaiser Chiefs, The Decemberists, Mando Diao... I listened to Killers and they're ok but I can't say that their entire album holds me. It gets tiring after a while. I found interesting group Boney Nem that plays popular songs in a weird manner - they play metal songs in acoustic, with violin and classic guitar, and pop songs in hard-rock manner, with distorsions and all.
I like The Strokes and hate to see them losing some of the original atmosphere (I also hate to see them in expensive videos). If you can call Gorillaz a new band then add them, though I'd always exchange them for my favourite Blur.

I think that people keep bringing Radiohead because they turned out to be one of the most influential groups of the last decade, at least when it comes to alternative music. Simply, if a group hasn't had a release for three years and had their greatest albums ten years ago, and yet they are being brought up in every music arguement - my impression is that it's because their influence spans to a lot of fresh music which keeps reminding us of that group even when it's not working intensively.

Whether he has a whiney voice or not, is a matter of taste. I find his voice wonderful, he sings like a child which adds to the eerie atmosphere, as if a child was walking through the land from "Sleepy Hollow" or something like that. His voice projects vunerability and unsecurity which is completely different experience than if he was giving an impression of strong or impassionate observer.
The only thing I find tragical is how many singers are trying to immitate him nowadays.

Incidentally, I don't like Pink Floyd very much, except for Sid Barett phase, only then they were approaching the music honestly. The rest was just mostly "Hey, let's make another album that will be the greatest and most complex album of all times!". I <3 Beatles but I haven't listened to them for several years now. Nowadays I prefere Kinks.

I have no idea how old they are, but I recommend Ookla the Mok.

Thirwell, Jack Johnson, Joby Talbot, John Fogarty, Johnny Cash, L.P... ugh, this is too much work.

anyways, all my music is nerdy. if you're looking here for fresh cutting edge music, you're looking in the wrong place. but I love it.

I just thought of something- Mr. Bob, you posted a link to a song by "the popticons". I've tried to find more music by them but have come up empty handed. could you give me a link or something?

Ah, I love Gorillaz... I'd've added them to my list, too, but I've "found" them since last summer.

Reel big fish, Suburban legends, and dropkick murphy's, are all great bands. The first two are ska bands and the last is irish punk.
