People who don't go to churches...?legostargalactica wrote:dear god, what won't people do? Whatever happened to leaving the child you don't want on the steps of a church or something? dumpsters.. plastic bags in lakes... seriously...
Eh, poodle had it coming. Some little dog runs up and attacks me, you bet I'mma kick it.
Well, not really, because I'm too gentle, but mentally I'll be kicking it. Viciously.

I don't agree with the punting-across-the-street bit, but you can't really blame the guy for aiming a foot at it at least once, just to encourage it to go away. Some of those little dogs can get really vicious to strangers, especially people who are running. They just give chase and sink their teeth into someone's leg.
And yeah, I've seen it happen. My brother used to have a paper route, and sometimes came back after having been chewed on by a couple loose dogs.

you don't have to go IN to the church... just leave it on the doorstep of people who might care...Gengar003 wrote:People who don't go to churches...?legostargalactica wrote:dear god, what won't people do? Couple months of retail work will do that to ya.
My loathing for humanity just went up another notch, though. And the problem is, we've probably had her mental twin sister go through my parents foster home at some point in time.

Fair dinkum...we all love taking one stand alone incident and blaming the entire race, don't we. Ignore all the good that's happening in the world (there's a heap of it happening, it's just that it doesn't sell newspapers) and focus on the handful of bastards doing bastard things.
Fair dinkum, let's get over the lack of faith in humanity cult and start appreciating the stuff that the vast majority of the little people are doing in the world instead.
Otherwise you're only ever gonna see the dark side of the world. Most of the joint's filled wall to wall with colour, you do realise this, don't you?

I admire the individuals who do good things.
I have not experianced very many of said individuals. I have experianced a great many self-absorbed, bitter, selfish, greedy, neglectful, abusive and downright nasty people. Some people are really, really nice when they know you or they feel like they need to be nice to you to get something out of you. When there's nothing they can get out of you, or they know that they may never have to speak to you again, the best that you can hope for is that they ignore you. I've known nothing nicer than a single, kind, caring, accepting individual. I've known nothing crueler than a mass of people heading for a single goal.
Individuals=good.
Clumps of humanity? Not so good.

CW, though I understand your opinion, I gotta tell you that, whether you're going to notice all the bad things in the world and glaze over good things as "rare exceptions", is pretty much up to you. It is more about pre-defined opinion that people have, so things that they witness, they are trying to fit into that opinion. For instance, you can blame bad individual acts on entire humanity, yet take good individual acts as strictly individual, having nothing to do with humanity in whole. But that's what people do when they WANT to lost faith in humanity. It's true that some people think that the glass is half-empty and the other that it's half-full.christwriter wrote:I admire the individuals who do good things.

I for one have witnessed many acts of human kindness, I was in many situations where I or somebody close to me needed help, and many times, it was unknown passers-by who helped.
Of course, I know many different acts. Being that I grew up during the war time, probably more than most of people here.
People, they are not strictly good nor bad. Simply, we all have our quirks and whether in some situation we're going to react as utter bastards or as angels, sometimes it's just a matter of timing. Someone who helped you in some occasion might be a bank robber, you might never find out. Someone who did you something harm on one day, might have just been having a bad day. People are imperfect and, if you look at it deeper, you'll realise that that's the reason to love this world: because people are going on despite their imperfectness. If they were perfect, would anything good they do be extraordinary? I think not.
