Playing with Maya

I've been taking animation courses alongside my design courses (hey, might as well learn as much as I can, makes me a more versatile designer). Our final project was to make a head. Well, of course I made it after a character from PMB

I also made a body cause I was done fast.
Who else has played with other programs to make your characters?[/veiled attempt at showing off totally sweet maya skills]

That really is spiffy! I wish I had the opportunity to fool around with programs like that. Alas, English literature and Maya don't often overlap.

Mmmm. Crotch wheat.
little known fact: that was the original name for the Buckwheat character on Little Rascals.

I did the head of one of my characters in Maya. It took me a whole semester and I could never get it to really mesh. Anyway, that's how I found out that my characters have HUGE noses when transferred into a three dimensional medium. I managed to slim her nose down a little bit while keeping close to my original design sketch (which took me about two minutes).
It's probably still on my jumpdrive but I don't actually have maya, so I can't really show it anywhere.
Also, I took the class credit/no credit 'cause I figured I was gonna do horribly and I didn't want to hurt my GPA more than I already had, but it turns out that the teacher gave everyone A's. It was about that time that I decided that college no longer had anything to offer me. So I quit. Whee!

I have recreated my characters as game sprites for a really crappy game that I made, and will never release.
I really hate how Eddy and his brother came out when walking forward, or backwards, it just doesn't look like them to me at all, but then again, they aren't desinged to be seen from the front or back really...
I've debated trying to make him 3-D, and I've realized it would be impossible, he can only exist in 2-D, (ok, technically 3-D, but you know what I mean)

I tried making Turkish and Speed in Maya once - they being very simple characters and a good basis in which to begin (Turkish is basically a snake with a cat's head... and with fur). Lost the file though, have to start over.
There was also the
Turkish model I did with Sculpey. Sold a bunch of little ones at the CN Expo in August. Hope to sell more this year.
And my favourite: building my characters in Sims2. I'm only half-done with the custom stuff; most of them need custom skins and hair, they all pretty much need custom clothing. But I've got a few done:
First Attempt at Frog
All other sims found here
Guess I should put up a page or something.

Considering I've got pretty much no experience in 3D, let alone anything outside of Flash, I consider this a success.
Bow before me, mortals, for I am the king of all cosmos.
