This sort of rampant, unschooled time travel creates paradoxes that destroy the universe. To avoid this, the universe slots the whole mess into a pocket dimension and lets it collapse there, allowing the prime universe to continue on without difficulty. An example of this was most recently seen in the dramatised biography of the Doctor, in which his companion, Rose, accidently caused such a paradox and locked herself in a collapsing sub-dimension.

What does this mean? Anyone who's time travelled in this thread is dead after spending a few hours of abject terror being pursued by monsters from the time vortex. What we have left are alternate versions created to keep the prime universe's continuity intact.

Basically, everyone here is all talk and no action, coz as soon as that changes, they're reaper-fodder.

Nyah.

Well, in reality, any attempts to alter the future will only result in assuring it. Or you'll simply fail. The universe doesn't need monsters our divergent dimensions, because you can't change what's already happened, and whether you're aware or not, your time travel has already been accounted for before you went back in time.

That's can't be right. That's no fun at all. Anyway, Doctor Who says otherwise.

Oh, it's lots of fun. Er, even if it often ends in tragedy. And might I add that this theory is supported by Terry Gilliam?

Ah, very nice bit of science-fiction, Sir Yeahduff. I enjoyed it immensely.

*continues doing a concussion-free victory dance*

I think someone needs to check Sir Yeahduff's hearing aid.

*gets a bit tired of the victory dance, switches to the Neutron Dance!*

And now he's twitching in a most unattractive manner.

Meh.

*hit's Jim over the head with a time machine*

That was freaking me the hell out.
