I actually didn't like retromud, just ended up wandering around in the dark a lot. Reminded me too much of zork or whatever. Darn grue.

I did mud in the past though, with the hot sex and the stuff. Never leveled much.

WoW needs hot coffee.

Sweet.
Now if I could only figure out how to make one, I'd be set :D

I'll take a look around for some different MUD sources, though if you have a particular flavour you prefer let me know. I'll probably set up Diku MUD, if only because it was the most popular at the time that I was playing :)

My only request: You MUST create the box :)
...omg

This must happen.

Hooray for sudden middle-of-the-night obsessions ...

And thus another game was begun. The last few having floundered miserably, who knew where this latest flurry of interest would take them?

Now now.
Even things that don't get finished are fun to plan.

I'd be happy if it succeeded.

I'll work on this tonight. The version of Smaug I downloaded isn't compiling at the moment.

Every time a project like this gets started, I get the thought that someday, years down the line, it will become wildly successful and popular, and on the "about us" page, there'll be a little paragraph of history about the tiny webcomic site that started it all.

Paranoia or premonition?
Thespiphobia: (n) An irrational fear of actors.
From Greek: thespian (actor), phobos (fear).

The mud is online and appears to be working. I haven't done anything with it, aside from change the admin name and password, so if you log in you will be seeing a virgin mud! (where have I heard that recently? ;) )

So feel free to connect. worldwidesam.net port 4000

Pimpette, let me know what your username is when you create it (assuming it's different from Pimpette) and I'll promote you to an admin so you can start a tinkerin'.

Meh, I just made my name Pimpette.
I mean hell, if it's a KS MUD (er, CG MUD), I might as well keep the name everyone knows.
Whee!

I may not be able to promote you until tonight (dunno if I can connect from here, but I'll try from lunch). If I don't get to at lunch, I'll get to it tonight :)

There seems to be a fair amount of content there already, so anyone who wants to play around can feel free, though as far as I'm concerned, if there's anything at all you wanna change, Pimpette, feel free. I don't expect any of it to stay :)

('sides, if I really want to play on one that's been untouched, I can just install a second one ;) )

Doesn't matter - I have to work in a little over an hour, so I won't be able to do anything until much later.

I've also got no idea what I'm doing, so changes might take a while. :)

No problemo. I should note that most of my experience comes from MUSHes and MUXes, so I'm not up on all of the administrator commands on a mud. I'll be looking into it though :) Apparently on a mud only wizards can build, which means pumping you up to level 52 or higher artificially (so no pissing her off in-game, fols! ;) )

What sort of error are you getting? Do you get to the login screen at least? If not, does it tell you anything? Can you get to my main web page at worldwidesam.net?

I got a "Page cannot be found" error screen, but yes it is letting me go to the main page.
