OH MY GOD I WOULD GIVE SO MUCH OF ANYTHING FOR A FUCKING TABLET RIGHT NOW. or even a better mouse.

Hello Mr. Mouse! Do you wanna stick every 1/4 of an inch while I try to color small areas in photoshop? Do you wanna stick even more after I spend 20 minutes cleaning you? YOU DO! Oh that must mean you're the best fucking mouse ever?!

NO IT DOESN'T STOP IT I HATE YOU

I HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE my mouse.

It's the mouse that came with the computer, it's a ball mouse...it's an ok mouse for regular mouse stuff. Before this comp I had a track ball mouse. I liked my trackball mouse. I loved my track ball mouse....it took me 4 months to get USED to that mouse. Now I have this one after 3 or so years with a trackball mouse. I can't stand this mouse...I hate mouses in general...At school we use the laser light or whatever ones..I hate those too...cause they jump...so I'm jumping at school and sticking at home. And it pisses me the fuck off.

quit your aching and get a new mouse you say?
My bank balance is $0.03-has been for almost a year now, k thnx

Get a tablet?
see above

I'm so mad....my wrist hurts so bad right now...I can't find my wrist brace and my mouse chooses now out of the days it's been since I started going hardcore with all the requests and going so into doing my comic and such to start sticking like a stupid bitch again.

I slammed it against the table a few times already....If I make it through the night without breaking it be surprised.
and now the pain in my wrist has spread through my arm..... >_> bastard mouse.....

A cheap optical one will jump. Mice are the same with tablets, you have to pay more to get a decent one. I got an MX700 over a year ago and I love it to bits. I do all my colouring with the mouse and hardly ever touch my tablet.
That said, getting a tablet or trackball is probably a better option, better for your wrist. Start selling stuff! Got a little sister? Ebay!

Maybe you could try selling your art:

Not always the case, War. I bought myself a cheap-o optical and it works great. I used to have a microsoft intellimouse and it was awesome, until it started getting shakey and the mouse wheel started to suck. It took a while for that to happen, but it did. When I replaced it, I needed one that was PS/2 instead of USB (for my old KVM switch) and the replacement I got was $15. Canadian. Works beautifully. No jumping.

It certainly may not last as long as the MS one did, though, so we'll just see, but given the price I can't complain :D

Overall, though, I'd agree that typically the more you pay the better, though I can still recall a really expensive gamer mouse that died real fast.

And yeah. Ebay is your friend when you have talent and need cash.

Well, I have also had problems with cheap optical mice. I hate the inaccuracy on most of them. I'm sorry, but I don't know any mice that are selling for 3 cents.

Hmm I dont know I have the basic microsoft opitcal mouse and it doesn't jump. Well it used to but I realiesd that was the mouse mat, it was just too shiney, now I have one that has a bit of texture to it and now the mouse doesn't jump.

So.. maybe its the mouse mat?

Microsoft optical mice have a different problem. Depending on what generation it is, they have a terrible habit of dying.

I don't know why there is so much acrimony computer mouses, particularly ball mice.

I've learned to adapt to it and have drawn some really kickass stuff with my ball mouse.

I'm really proud of what I can do with a mouse, don't get me wrong. But after having to buy a wrist brace and now being left with the mouse from hell I really need a healthier option(both mentally and physically). Also I got to color with a tablet once....I was in heaven. I gotta admit I'm dying to eventually get a tablet even if only for the pressure sensitive ability. But as I said before, I've no money at all.

My old ball mouse of 5 years just broke last week. It didn't bother my drawing very much, I use a tablet; but hell if it wasn't hard to play Counterstrike with the tablet.
So I walked down to the nearest Fry's and purchased a cheap Compaq Optical mouse (Not wireless, hate those) for $15. It's been working great, and no skipping, either.

Here's the one. You can find it for around $15 everywhere else, though.

Illustrations, ok, but can you actually draw comic with the mouse? Doens't it take forever and ever?

i don't like digitally drawing, even if I had a tablet I'd only use it to color. I guess I'm just weird.
and for me drawing with a mouse does take forever, unless I use illustrator. It's weird.

AWESOME!

I bought a $15 optical mouse from microsoft, and I've never had any problems with it... but I use a mousepad. The thing to understand about optical mice is they have to be able to SEE the surface they are on, and if said surface happens to be, say, completely identical or REFLECTIVE (or holographic), the mouse will screw up and jump. A decent mousepad with an image on it and no gloss cover (and not holographic....) should solve any optical-mouse-jumping-problems you may have.

Poor m2... Not that this will magically fix your ball mouse, but have you tried soaking the mouseball in alcohol? (That's *rubbing* or isopropyl alcohol, not drinking alcohol) It might clean it a lil and make it stick less (it's supposed to) , and worse case you can light it on fire in a fit of vengeance.
