White cats are gorgeous.. Is it true about the majority of them being deaf?

Yeah - but just the white cats with blue eyes. They have a total lack of pigment, and that's somehow genetically linked to deafness.

Lily isn't deaf, though - and it's probably because of her one green eye. I'm curious if that's also the case with Mimo's cat.

Cat racist.

Some of us own grey/black kitties that are the essence of beauty and cuteness. White cat's always keeping us down.. :/

I want a kitty. :(

I just have a gigantic hyper german shepherd/boxer of which I've already posted pictures, I believe.

I miss having kitties lots. I used to have two, but Heart bit the dust via coyote and Eddie got hit by a car.

I think the answer behind things like this was that since the white fur and blue eyes are the result of recessive genes, there was a higher chance of deafness because of a genetic defect as well. That is to say the cat already has recessive genes for certain characteristics so there's a high probability of other recessive/rare genes being present for other abnormal or rare developments.

Here's my little pet, Gunther. He's always crawling around in the dryer and other household appliances. He's 23 in human years and a loyal pet. We had to neuter him a few years back because he wouldn't leave the neighbor kids alone, but now he's content laying around all day and eating out of his dish on the floor.

If I had a cat like that, I'd so name it Yuna. Probably pretty cheesy, but I cannot resist the pull of geekdome.

I found this picture on my camera's memory card. I'm not sure who's dog this is, but I'll post it anyway. It's a mix of a golden retriever and...something else?
