Well if you walk it, the Proclaimers will have nothing on you. They'll only go 1000.

I tought it was 5,000 miles. Still, War would walk almost twice as far.

No, wait. Then they say they would walk 5000 more. So that makes 10,000.

Fairly certain it was 500 and 500.

I always kinda wondered about that song, though--I mean, walking five hundred miles? And then another five hundred? If he really loved her, he'd take a cab or catch a plane or something so he could get there faster. But no, he walks--which just goes to prove that he was putting off showing up at her place, trying to make up a good excuse for why he was so damn late.

unless he's poor and can't take a cab or plane. Personally I'd drive. I won't mind sleeping in the back seat at Wal-mart Parking lots if it got me closer to where I want to be.

I'm pretty certain we already had the thread basically derailed with our discussion of various means of transit, but the effort is nonetheless appreciated, rkolter.

no the means of transit actually fits in with the orginal question about long distance relationships.

I once heard a parody of that song on the Dr. Demento Show. The only bit I can recall was:

And I could walk 500 miles
But that would make me too damn tired
So I'll just break down and I'll buy a car
So I can drive to the local bar.

I kinda like that version better. :D

It has to be 500, cause when you sing it with a Scots accent you go:

Wull ah wud walk five hunner miles
An ah wud walk five hunner more

Simple really.

I also seriously believe that song should be Scotland's national anthem. Everyone here loves it.
What a rubbish signature.

That'd be a damn sight more interesting and entertaining than the American National Anthem, which everyone forgets the words to halfway though.

Really, the national anthem of any given nation has to have a chorus which drunken men can sing along to (though "sing" is used very loosely there) at sporting events and in bars.

Oh, if no one hears from me ever again, it's because Homeland Security saw this post, deemed me a terrorist threat, and came to take me away.

And that god-damn "any" key. What the heck? It's everywhere? I can't hit a key on my keyboard without it being selected. "Hit Any Key to continue..." Hell, I have to hit EVERY key, just to be sure I get the right one!
