I asked the nice lady who runs the local Brit shop to order some Tizer.

I like Tizer:

"Happy birthday, Tizer - 80 years old this year. I remember sloshing back tumblersfull of the horrible, orange stuff as a child. But then, by the time I was given it, the original formula had been changed. Tizer (short for appetizer, which it was not) was invented in 1924 in Manchester by a firm called F. Pickup but, sometime during the Second World War, the recipe was changed. Together with other memorable drinks - Vimto, Dandelion and Burdock, Lucozade - the idea was to mix pleasure with health-giving herbs and minerals.

Tizer, now back to its original recipe, includes a mix of water, sugar, citric acid, flavourings, preservatives and colours. Berry-red Vimto, also from Manchester, has a slightly more salubrious mix of blackcurrant and grapes, horehound, vanilla and capsicum with vitamin C.
