i still maintain, that I love how the first american pie film was shot. The sequels and spin offs not so much.

Run, Fatboy, Run!

So I kinda watched this movie on the plane, but now I've rented it and I really like it and will probably buy it. When it was in theaters I read the synopsis in the paper or whatever and it sounded incredibly lame, but it is actually hilarious (at least if you enjoy British humor). It has Simon Pegg from Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz, the guy who played the dweeb that I always thought looked like Harry Potter in Shaun of the Dead, and also Hank Azaria, voice actor from the Simpsons. The thing I really liked is that the end is NOT typical happy fuzzy hollywood ending where suddenly everything is all better and shiny and wonderful, but you still feel that nice sense of completion of a story drawing to a close with all the characters having learned something and changed through the course of the movie.

It is a very silly movie and has a lot of awkward humor in it, but if you like Simon Pegg you will probably like it.

I remember a review once saying it was David Shwimmer completely misunderstanding the british comedy movies that were starting to come out and Simon Pegg's appeal. Seemed about right. Very generic british romcom. Even had the big evil guy whose gonna take away the main characters girlfriend be an american.

not a good turn for Azaria either :(

oh don't get me wrong, it's no Hot Fuzz. but it has its moments, and it's fun to watch. it at least doesn't attempt to constantly make you laugh by filling any lulls with fart jokes like a lot of recent american comedies.

After like three months of having it borrowed but sitting on my dresser, I fiiiiinally got around to watching Requiem for a Dream. it was the [EDITED VERSION], so while I'm not 100% upset at seeing the scaled back ass-to-ass scene, I still kinda feel a bit guilty for not going out of my way to see Aronofsky's complete vision. Still, it was a very good movie. I'd recommend it.

(Also, watching creepy/unnerving movies with girls kinda kicks ass. Not that y'all didn't know that, but...whatever. >: P)

Saw Mummy 3.

It wasn't awful. I don't think I'd have paid to see it except we all agreed to go out to see a movie and it was the only one we hadn't seen that looked marginally interesting.

Good special effects. But not enough of them. All right plot. But not great. Good acting, but not stellar.

Worth renting.

Just got back from The Clone Wars. A fun little romp, even if it didn't feel as epic as any of the original saga movies.

Netflix's distribution was all screwed up last week, but I finally received my copy of Sweeney Todd and am watching it now.

I'm a theatre geek, and this is high on my list of favorites... the movie wasn't bad, either.

I just saw "Hoax." Holy crap that's a good movie. It had some unexpected surprises. Moments that made me sit up and say "What??? Did that really happen?" In fact, I had to turn to google to find out. Anyhow, I greatly recommend it.

I've gotten to sit through about twenty minutes of it so far, and that's exactly the impression I was getting from it. It was more like a TV show two-parter stuck together and sold on DVD as a full movie. Which is actually a little odd considering just how big the action was . . . it just felt dragged down by the insipid plot and extremely poor dialogue.

So, yah, basically, it was a Star Wars movie. But not a particularly stellar one even among the latest crop.

I agree with both these statements.

It was worth seeing. It had a lot of the feel of a Star Wars movie, but it lacked something because it was done in an animated style. The same battle scenes done with CGI with human actors would have been impressive as hell. It was good as animation. Just... not on the same playing field.

Renter - nothing worth seeing on the big screen.

Notably, on the day after opening - Saturday, at the 8pm showing (one of the most popular), there were maybe 30 people in the whole theater.

seeing as the movie basically IS a t.v. show two parter to lead into the t.v. show, the movie was an afterthought.

finally got to see Wall-e this weekend, loved it, not my favorite pixar, but loved it none the less, it was very sweet.

But they already had an animated Clone Wars TV show! What the hell, Lucasfilms?

Anyway, I'm not sure which is sadder, the fact that I decided on a whim to look up Ahsoka Tano on DeviantArt because I figured there was probably already nude art of her on there, or the fact that I was right. Probably the first, but I swear it was only for sociological scientific curiosity purposes!
