I think it was Dark Empire I was thinking about, in regards to the Dark Horse series. I'm much more curious to see more of those characters than of the prequel characters.

don't forget the t.v. series to follow, in fact the movie was an afterthought, the series was the whole reason for doing this.Killbert-Robby wrote:Yeah, I saw it on IMDB when I went to look up Tron 2.
Fucking KILL IT NOW. The series was rad 3 minute spots of "BANG BANG CLONES AND JEDI VS ROBOTS, THIS IS RAD"

See, that's FINE for three minutes, I can bear it. But I don't know about a full three hour epic movie, especially because the screen stills I saw looked a lot different....
*edit* That is TERRIBLE animation in the trailer

Ladies and Gentlemen, Boys and Girls, I give you The Star Wars Expanded Universe.Col wrote:I thought there was more to come after that, like McDuffies said. Heck, didn't Dark Horse do a few comics about the aftermath of the original trilogy back in the nineties? There's no reason to think the story is over. All they need to do is come up with a new Sith Lord.
Legacy of the Force is pretty okay. About Han and Leia's son and daughter - the former going into the dark side (SURPRISE) because of his unquenched thirst for power (SURPRISE). Especially loved the part with one of them training with Boba Fett, past history be damned.Jim North wrote:Ladies and Gentlemen, Boys and Girls, I give you The Star Wars Expanded Universe.Col wrote:I thought there was more to come after that, like McDuffies said. More than just a few Dark Horse comics. More than just Zahn's Heir to the Empire. More than just Knights of the Old Republic. It spans forward several, several decades past the original trilogy and several millennia prior to the prequels. Books, comics, vidgames, even Saturday morning cartoons. Tons of the stuff, some of it very very good, some of it toxic waste bad. Dig in.
from what i've heard del toro and mignola intended it to be different from the comics.Nanda wrote:I saw Hellboy II the other night. I'm generally not much of a comic book snob, and I love Guillermo Del Torro's original work, but I just can't stand how he repeatedly butchers Hellboy. The characters are so out of character that it's painful, and certain scenes were just downright embarrassing: Abe and Hellboy drunk and singing ranks right on up there with Emo Parker making an ass of himself on the dance floor in Spiderman 3.
Some parts were really awesome, though. The monsters were great, the intro was fantastic (except for young Hellboy, who looked and acted ridiculous) and in general, I didn't hate it. But man... Were the comic books lacking, in some way? Because I thought they were pretty fucking fantastic, and all this angsty, teenage, romance crap they've added to the films just reeks like so much bad fanfic.

Yup. I've got the Director's Cut of the first movie, and in the interviews and commentaries included therein, it's stated several times that Mignola not only knew about all the changes Del Toro was going to make beforehand and approved of them, there were a number of changes that he helped along and a few that he made himself. If anything, it seems that he was even more involved with the second movie than he was with the first.Dr Legostar wrote:from what i've heard del toro and mignola intended it to be different from the comics.
I heard the same general thing about "Angus, Thongs, and 'Perfect' Snogging". Doesn't mean it's gonna be better. Or good.Jim North wrote:Yup. That's a new one. And now that's all I see!McDuffies wrote:Col, I swear, whenever I look at your avatar, at first I think it's a sheep.
