This is more of a prototype.
Possibly something cooked up in inventor's garage to fight Nazis--or stolen from a secret Nazi raygun development project.
Actually something got me thinking of that H.P. Lovecraft story where the guy melts his professor with a modified Crooke's tube and it came out as a vintage '30s model.
