Most certainly made up for yesterday today. I'm up to 8354 words and I'm calling it a night. I didn't even mean to be up this late, but I got into the part I was on and just had to keep going. I should probably do the opening paragraph for the next part just so I can get started again easily... maybe I still will... But now I need sleep.
EDIT: 8965... Okay, so I wrote a little more than an opening paragraph, but at least it'll be easy to lead off of tomorrow... If I wake up.

I've got 238 words! YESSSSSSSSS.
The problem is that I have freakin' class all day and then I go out to dinner with my classmates and then we freakin' study and then we go to sleep so I have like no time, even for my comic which I just relaunched and have now missed a week of updates on even though I know what I'm going to draw.
At least I have a story now. A bad story! That is very cliche! And kind of fangirlie! YESSSSSSSSSSSS.

Again, that's how I'm doing, too. The characters just aren't speaking to me at the moment... I feel like they all have the same voice, even though they're drastically different.Escushion wrote:I wish I could say the same. While I don't feel there's anything wrong with what I've got, it's somehow not exactly what I want. I'm leaning between just plugging along or stopping to figure out just what the problem is before proceeding.
But I'm hoping that they'll gain more of their own voices as the story progresses, and I'll be able to go back and apply that to earlier passages.
That's probably the most sensible way of doing it, Sparrow. But my nitpickiness won't leave me alone
.
I'm going back and adding in something extra. My problem is really focus, as I'm conflicted over drawing the reader in with a situation and character they can identify better with against the fact that the story's really about Kadeo overall. I think I want to do too much at once.

I believe I might have to just throw the towel in on this one. My laptop cord's been delayed (excushion, you have to understand, this is my laptop's power CORD, I don't HAVE any others to plug in) and the one I've borrowed temporarily has major issues just connecting to the internet, much less actually running a program.
And work's been hell today, and it looks like it will be for the rest of this week, so... I'll give it a go toward the beginning of next week, but meh.

Didn't hear you had problems with your cord - I have lots for a few types of system... what do you use?netpoet wrote:I believe I might have to just throw the towel in on this one. Dell M140 laptop. It's covered under warranty and all, but it's just been a delay on getting the cord from whatever supplier they use for that (I think Sony, but I'm not sure)rkolter wrote:Didn't hear you had problems with your cord - I have lots for a few types of system... what do you use?
Either way, it's not a big deal. Life's just decided to remind me that it's still here, no worries.

There are two parts to that cable.
1) Cable from outlet in wall to the adapter.
2) Adapter and cable from adapter to computer.
I have #1, or a good faximile of #1. I don't have #2. I can drop-ship you #1.
Also, different note: 1143 words! Yeah, yeah... no way in hell will I finish at this rate, but it's good to try.

Ugh I had that problem with my adapter once. The cord frayed and split on the end coming out of the adapter so I had to get an all new one. And had to suffer for about a week with an AC adapter that SAID it'd give me enough juice when it really didn't
.
I still have the spare AC cord somewhere, and I think all Dell laptops use the same cord (the trefoil-looking kind). If I'd known earlier, I could've seen if it was the kind you needed :/ . If that's the part that's the problem, that is.

well, much thanks to both of you, but it won't be necessary. I went out and bought an $80 generic replacement... er, thing. It has adapters for like 9 different type of laptop adapters.
I plugged it in, and though it won't charge the battery, it will run the laptop itself ( I actually have to take the battery *OFF* to make it work, mind you). So I *DO* have a functional laptop again, limping along until I get the OEM part er... whenever it comes in. :p
so I'll see if I get back into nano-ing again or not, I'm honestly feeling quite down recently and I'm not sure if I *SHOULD* be trying to do a huge amount of writing right now.
But lots of luck to those still in the running.

It seems like everyone's been hitting writer's block at the same time. We were all complaining about it in chat a couple days ago. Huzzah for group procrastination!
But no, I, for one, have not quit. This is more an exercise of willpower, for me, than anything having to do with writing a decent story.
