Dutch! wrote:This is that world series sport where only two American teams take part, isn't it?
originally, it was referred to as the "New World Series" since, as we all know, north america was once referred to as the new world. then in 1903, they simply shortened it to "World Series" because it is shorter and easier to write.

so Dutch!, i think you owe us an apology for calling us all egotistical. ^.~

Bad timing. Plane crash kills driver and family after race on Sunday.

As for Baseball...

We had to let the sox fans think they have a chance before we utterly crush their dreams. You guys are soooo cursed. May you never win a World Series (or at least, not this one).

Meh. What's the point in hitting a ball that can't hit you back?

I dunno...we've already had one celebration-related death...
I figured there was going to be a riot in Boston at the end, one way or another :-?

Acutally, the Sox were favored going into the World Series this year :)
Hobolenno wrote:I am undecided. Honestly, I didn't want the Red Sox to make it to the World Series until both them and the Cubs could do it.
I kinda felt that way last year too, when it was a possibility. But I decided, while that would've made an exciting Series, somebody was going to go home disappointed again.

Ha. We'll let you guys win a game or two (maybe), so we can come back and win it all in front of the home crowd. And you guys will hear the cheering all the way out there.

Sorry, but a World Series win in St. Louis this year just isn't in the "Cards". (Hyuk hyuk, I'm so clever...)

Update for those not following closely: Red Sox 2, Cardinals 0.

PS. Yankees Suck. (It had to be said)

well, this year. they usually are the underdog. nice to see them winning for once. plus you can see the curse working against them.
anyone catch the game the other day where the red sox guy went to catch the ball, it landed on the back of his glove, and then he started tumbling head over feet while the cardinal guy was running the bases?
cursed. cursed I say.

I don't think Manny Ramirez being a hack defensively counts as being cursed. It's a good thing that he can hit. Sometimes.

I kid because I love. GO SOX!

I'll give you that... the Yankee's DO suck. I used to live in Cleveland, and they were always giving the Indians trouble. Kudos to the Red Sox for beating 'em.

But you have to realize, the Red Sox are still CURSED to lose. This is going to go seven games. The Cards win games 3, 4, and 5. Sox win 6 in a landslide. And then the Cards will beat the Sox by one run in the ninth inning of Game 7.

We win. You Lose. We Rock. You Suck. Who the hell names their team after an undergarment anyway?

You're doomed. The Curse of the Bambino is upon you!

... and toasted ravioli beats out Clam Chowduh any day of the week.

Poor guy... I feel sorry now, he prolly had a great future running around in circles.

Actually, there's something rather metaphorical about all this.

Yes, it was enjoyable to see Cleveland beat the Yankees earlier in the year by a score of 22-0. You read that right folks, Twenty-two to NOTHING. (That's a lot)

Well, wrong again. Red Sox win Game 3, 4-1. Sox now 3-0 in the Series. And only ONE baseball team has ever come back from a 3-0 deficit...and that was the Red Sox last week. ;)
Say all you want about "well, the Sox did it, now we'll do it!"...historically speaking, it's highly improbable. The reason the Sox did it is because this is Our Year. (excuse me, Owah Yeeah)

I'll hold judgement on the ravioli thing, though. Never tried it, but you might have something there ;)

Ugh. Us, too. >_____________<

The worst part is that we hate sports. We really couldn't care less who won, and they just won't shut up. They're setting of fire crakers as we speak.
You're just jealous because you can't get away with speaking in the third person...

MWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAA!!!1!!11!!1!one!!1!
:D :D :D :D :D :D

Well, I hope that there's an attempt made for some civility, especially considering what happened last week. Everyone I talk to is always disgusted by the riots that occur, but they always still seem to happen.
Didn't take the police too long to break out the tear gas after the game ended, though :-?
It's weird to watch the split-screen on the news: interviewing players, saying "Party hard, but safe", while at the same time seeing riot-gear-clad officers marching on the street with the crowd, doofuses climbing lampposts, etc.

One thing's for sure...not a lot of work's gonna get done in Boston this week.

Congrats Boston; you guys had the better team.

For the record tho, St. Louis through you guys one HELL of a party afterwards. We're officially not sore losers.

Congratulations accepted (like I had anything to do with it).

It's a shame the Cardinals didn't bother showing up to play; it might've made for a more exciting Series.

I had heard, though, that Cards fans, though many and boisterous, are also quite cordial. With our history, I doubt we would've done the same. :-? (At this point, it probably would've been more self-defeatist than anything)

Besides, you guys already won two Series against us, so it shouldn't be a big deal ;) No hard feelings, right?
