They should add that to The List.

The evil dictator rarely gets killed by the hero. Usually they get killed by their badass enforcer. Evidence darth vader, sephiroth, etc.

<star-wars3>
Wow... that scene where darth vader is trying to choose between killing the emperor or watching him kill luke just got all kinds of lame. I imagined it was haydn doing that lame tennis match head movement. "Hm... son I thought I killed... guy who told me I killed him..."</star-wars3>

How is Cloud Sephiroth's "badass enforcer"?
"Slave", maybe, but not exactly an "enforcer".

Sephiroth wasn't the evil dictator. The evil dictator was. Sephiroth was the badass enforcer that killed the emperor, not cloud, and darth vader killed emperor palpatine, not luke.

Sephiroth killed his emperor? He certainly killed his boss, which isn't quite the same thing.

True, but both victims were the heads of evil empires that were killed by their enforcers. Maybe one of the empires was a corporation, but they both had... uh... superlasers.

I forgot that Sephiroth killed President Shinra. Heh. ^_^;

A lot of the stuff on that list is just common sense. A good villain never sacrifices common sense in order to advance the plot.

Sortelli's got it right, though. You turn evil so you can do whatever the hell you want and get away with it, and if losing can be entertaining too, then why the hell not? I don't want the world. I'll try to take it over, but just for kicks. Who wants to try to run an entire planet? Can you imagine the nightmare of paperwork that would be? *shudder*

Yeah. To me, the point is more the process of taking over than actually being in control.
If you ever actually had complete control, can you imagine how boring that would get?
Like... imagine if Brain had ever succeeded in his plots for world domination. The show would've gotten pretty boring.

Y'alls should read Empire, written Mark Waid and drawn by Barry Kitson. It's a collected limited series about a villain who really does manage to take over the world, and the things he has to deal with afterwards. Good reading.

*seals Box with duct-tape*
And it's non-flammable, so don't try it. :evil:

And I'll try to find that "Empire" series. It sounds good. As in "Discworld" level good.

The box is a box where box fodder are placed. The box's carrying capacity is always one less than the number of people in it.

It's like... the box!
Except capitalized. And you can only get out when someone past the rank of "Box Fodder" lets you out.
