Humans would be destoyed if there were no plants to create oxygen for them. All species are codependant to some degree or another, and some more than others. Eventually we'll create machines that do grow &/or evolve, I believe. In the meantime we need to create machines that can fix other machines, and then eventually merge the two together.

Thank you all for this wonderful topic! Oodles of good philosophy. I've always been fascinated by finding the point at which we define humanity and technology to diverge from nature. The division may not be scientifically real, but it's still important. Machines can't grow and evolve; they're not part of the natural world and would be destroyed without humans to repair and tend them.
Humans are part of nature; the things we create are also a part of nature. The laws of physics apply to both carbon and silicon based creatures equally. There is no division between humanity, technology, and nature. Only evolution.
Aster Azul wrote:Kolter, I will never stop making philosophy topics! Of course they create chaos, that's the whole point! If you haven't noticed.
Given how much I cherish, truely cherish chaos, your use of the word as a positive attribute claimed by your philosophy threads makes me sting and burn.

Denial is not falsification. You can't avoid a fact just because you don't like it.

Hmm.. what if you hollowed out some nails, and filled 'em with gasoline, then put some plastic explosives or flint at the tip, then fired them through a nailgun?! Exploding nails... or would the nails go off when they were fired, blowing up the whole gun + the chain in your hand, killing/maiming you?

Maybe if you dipped a nailgun in gasoline, lit it, and swung it around your head by the compressor hose...

I like the idea of a flaming nailgun :D

I drew a design for arrows which exploded when they came into contact with something. I've lost it now :( I'm sure it could've been adopted to nails. ...damn...

There was a McGyver episode where he was in a crystal meth lab and he made this powdergoo that'd explode when it was hit with something... just coat your arrowheads in that before ya shoot 'em...
