Maybe the reason some of you didn't like it is because you've seen it already.

Re: Star Trek (Spoilers)
So, question: you know the first few minutes of the movie where the Romulan ship attacked Kirk senior and friends? Would you consider that to be a spoiler? I composed a comic about it.

Re: Star Trek (Spoilers)
I'm pretty sure you can post spoilers in this thread anyway, what with the subject title.. You're probably ok to post it on your site as well, any Trekkie who knows enough to know about whether Kirk senior was meant to be alive or not will have likely seen the movie already.

Re: Star Trek (Spoilers)
I haven't read the rest of this thread, but I freaking loved the Star Trek. OMG.
I'm glad 90's style forum signatures don't exist anymore.
Re: Star Trek (Spoilers)
I watched it today. Damn how annoying is it having the ship's entire complement made out of kids; how is it that Pike was the only adult on board (ok, non cadet)? Yeah that bit wouldn't stop bugging me during the movie. That and the speedy promotions as well.
Also I don't know much about Romulan culture but apparently their workplace health & safety standards are abysmal.

Haha I just read all the black hole bitching in the thread. You know they just put that bit in because they needed Scotty to go "I'M GIVIN' HER ALL SHE'S GOT CAPTIN!!!!"

Re: Star Trek (Spoilers)
The thing that annoyed me the most on Star Trek was Winona Ryder. I only found out she was in the movie after the credits rolled, and even then I had trouble believing it.
Re: Star Trek (Spoilers)
HAHAHA Completely true! When I saw her name in the credits I went WHAAAT and had to double check on wikipedia first thing when I got home.RPin wrote:The thing that annoyed me the most on Star Trek was Winona Ryder. Also Spock's mom's boobs were amazing. Not the actual boobs, but the outfit that made it look as if she was smuggling pyramids.

Which explains why Spock went all ape-s**t whenever anyone badmouthed her.

Haha, I love that part too. It kind of reminded me of Eve-online if anyone's ever played, where even a mining vessel might be loaded up with guns just as a piracy-deterrent.

I've been away from forums that are not anonymous image boards for too long... Is this the new spam/viral marketing?
Re: Star Trek (Spoilers)
Damn. And I just bought 3 copies of EVE too!
Re: Star Trek (Spoilers)
I really liked the movie. Of course, I have an advantage on the "these aren't my characters" front because I spent so much more time reading the books than watching original episodes. Their personalities are more important to me than their faces. Still, I would have been disappointed if Spock didn't look like Spock.
Spoilery:
What bothered me first was the sequence in which Kirk's hands swelled up. It was very silly, but still enjoyable. Then when it came time to watch Scotty shoot through water tubes I had had enough silly, so I just kind of let my mind wander. The escape at the end was inevitable in that sort of movie so I ignored it. I don't mind so much when that happens as long as the movie can pull me back in afterwards.
I guess my least favorite parts were the conversations between Spock and Sarek. I tried to make sense of them but to me they just didn't flow right for my idea of Sarek. He is one character who I might be more picky about than most trekkies.
If I had been told Spock and Uhura got together before I saw the movie I would have been very skeptical, but I think it works. Among other things, I'm pretty sure Spock's bondmate T'Pring just died, who was one of the reasons he wasn't open to romance in the original universe. Hopefully that area of his life will go a little more smoothly this time around; T'Pring was nothing but trouble.

I'm not listening to you unless you speak through lush 3+ page comics.
And while we're at that, someone tell Claude that I'm still waiting for presidential comics.
