Mother and Baby are both doing fine, back from the hospital - they make you stay 4 days after a c-section, and I stayed with them (on a fold-out cot).

Tristan came into the world needing a bit of oxygen (common for c-section kids) and a bit jaundiced (apparently also common) both are treated and he's now happy and healthy. He's either eating ravenously or sound asleep, which I'm told is a pretty good thing.

Fadie only got one stat off. He was 5 days late, not three weeks.

20.5 inches, 8lbs 15oz, born on 1-12-2009 at 8:23:20 (I always wanted to know the second-count of my birth, so I was determined to let Tristan know his).

... and before anyone says it, no those aren't beauty marks on him or me dropping him already. :shifty:

They had to put a little mask on him so they could do a light treatment to help with the jaundice, and he didn't like the mask and kept trying to pull it off.

Little sucker has some upper arm strength let me tell you.

Now some thoughts -

My whole life I have said, without any malice, that babies are ugly. Really ugly. The kind of ugly that makes me wonder why as a species we hadn't smashed our next generation on the rocks and gone "oh my fucking god..."

As of three months ago, I started thinking babies were cute. It's the weirdest thing. I still think they're cute. Anyone who doesn't believe men undergo some kind of hormonal change around the birth of their baby - we do. I sure didn't conciously expect to start liking babies. But I do now. A lot.

With luck, our baby will take over the world and provide for us handsomely in our old age.

Really, you should have beaten him to it so he could take over the family business.

I think mad scientists are the only ones who make that kind of wish. I can't imagine a dentist hoping one day his son would steal the family business away.

that would make for some really interesting dental practices.

We're working on pictures with the baby with things folks have gotten us -

Hogan - a cute onesie - done, in the camera. Then he puked. That's not in the camera. The onesie survived, and was probably not involved with the puking. :D

BEC - cute rocket onesie, not done yet.

M&M - Blanket - going to probably do that this week when we take him out in the cold air!

Beth knows better than I if there are more gifts. She's got that all in her brain. These are the ones I know about.
