Finally saw Prince Caspian, which only opened in Norway this week. Like Buster said weeks ago;

That goes for me as well. I expected to like the movie (even though it's based on probably my least favorite book in the series), but I was honestly surprised at just how good it was. Speaking of it strictly as a film, it was much better than the first one. It was better acted, the action sequences were well integrated into the dramatic structure (as opposed to the climax in the first one, which was pretty much "and then they all met up on a big field and started to fight") and it generally just felt a lot tighter.

As an adaptation, though, it strayed a lot further from the book than The Lion The Witch and The Wardrobe did. But I think that was actually necessary because of Prince Caspian's clunky narrative, so personally I'm okay with it as long as it doesn't set a precedent for the remainder of the series.

Yes... It's just too bad they may end the movie series there, because I would very much like to see the last few books turned into movies. The crummy 80's BBC adaption didn't even touch the last three.

It's just such a damn shame that Caspian's potential box office got eaten up by Iron Man and Indy 4, because it really deserved better. And while I haven't seen Iron Man, Caspian was certainly more enjoyable than Indy (sad as that may be). Oh well.

Just saw Kung Fu Panda. It was by far the best Dreamworks movie have ever seen. By which I mean it was watchable.

It was quite fun but very pedestrian. It was a stock plot with no suprises at all and a few moments of clumsy storytelling.

*sigh*

Damned Disney. I shoulda been watching Wall-E to celebrate the end of semester.

Saw Hancock yesterday. I really liked it. I liked the concepts, and I liked the way that those concepts were dealt with. My roommate saw it with me, and he didn't like the execution as much. He wanted for the concepts to take a different path than they did. Reviewers have been complaining that the story gets in the way of the movie, but I was adequately sucked in, and I had a lot of fun watching it. I've seen a lot of movies so far this summer, and I think Hancock is my favorite so far.

Went and saw Wall E with boytoy last night. Great date movie, if no one's had that fact smashed into their brains yet. Also, as BEC mentioned, the credits reel was absolutely gorgeous, which was nice, seeing as I'd been talking with someone just a few days earlier, wishing that movies would try to make their ending credits a little more engaging. The movie itself was fantastic, and I got to glee over the characterization afterwards, tickled pink by the fact that the first half of the movie was essentially void of dialogue, and you still were in love with the characters at that point. (Hell, I was in love with the characters within five minutes.) Great movie.

Why should end credits be engaging? They're there just to show who was involved in making the film.

Because EVERYONE does the black names scrolling. Then movies like Toy Story engage you during the credits, and its just more fun that way. Not to mention that most people dont know what 99% of the roles on the credits are. "What the fuck's a first boy?"
Most people just walk right out as soon as the screen goes black and the lights come up anyway. With something during the credits, people actually WATCH the credits.

I saw Wall E, rather liked it. Very cute but with creepy dark undertones. I think my favorite part was how little dialogue there was. Compared to most kids movies where there's so much chatter it was interesting. Plus I liked how they were able to get so much humor and personality with such limited vocabulary and no facial expressions. EVE is an ipod egg but she may be one of my favorite characters in movies/TV this year.

I like Wall E's credits for the art history factor. That was nifty.

Besides I like to wait for the theater to clear. Might as well have something to look at.

Why should people be made to watch the credits if they don't want to know who participated in making the movie? Credits are not there to entertain you, they're there to give information for those who are interested in it. Putting some kind of bonus into them may be a nice gag for a movie or few, but that's all.

Although those who put bloopers into credits should be kicked in the nuts, because I don't want the cinematic illusion being broken at the end of the film. And those who put important plot points into end credits (like, in Adult Swim cartoons and such) should be kicked in the nuts repeatedly.

It does no harm and I'm sure it gives the animator something fun to do in between perfecting eyebrow movements. And if it's fun to watch, why not? Movie are meant to be entertaining.

Well art can certainly can do a lot more than just entertain you. But today is the time of instant gratification.

Oh besides, I saw "Stranger than fiction" and I heavily reccomend it, even though at times it's not entirely convincing. Ferell is a good actor, unlike most of comedians who develope one gimmick and then stretch it through all their films, he shows quite a range of entirely different roles.

Saw Wall-E. Not bad. Some of the "tear-jerker" moments were lame but Fred Willard was brilliant and the depiction of humans in the future was hilarious. Good credit crawl, too.

just saw "Wanted", nothing new and enlightening, but fun. the theatre cut the credits short though.

I was having fun spotting all the comic book writers, artists and others involved, and I wanted to see the music credits and the humane society seal of approval. plus, hey, new Danny Elfman music. I can never say no to new Elfman.

I was hoping to see the Batman movies before "The Dark Knight" comes out next Friday, and just watched "Batman" over the weekend, but Netflix has to ship "Batman Returns" up from Maryland for some reason. guess I'll have to cut "Batman Forever" from my list so I can see "Batman Begins" before TDK. no big loss, I just wanted to see Jim Carrey scream "I'M BATMAN!!!11!" and watch Tommy Lee Jones eat the set. plus, y'know, awesome contrast there, wtfcamp Two Face v. ohshiFUUUC- Two Face. maybe I'll watch Batman Forever right after TDK.

Malta still has Iron Man, but its gotta be on the way out. Hell, we were bundled into the shitty small screen that had a busted speaker in the middle that crackled on high pitched and loud noises. But my brother finally decided he wanted to go to the cinema to see it, AND I WAS NOT ABOUT TO COMPLAIN. So, with maybe a few days to go before it was removed, we went.

While Robby loves going to the cinema and seeing new stories play out, he will rarely want to see a movie more than once (rendering his DVD collection ever so slightly useless). The only movies I've seen in the cinema more than once were this and 300. Then of course you have Jurassic Park and The Matrix and Fight Club and those classics, which I've seen on DVD X times. Point is, I went back a second time, and loved the movie just as much, even with a busted speaker, which I think speaks volumes on the movie.

Come ooooooooooon DVD release.
