Well, Super Tuesday draws to a close, and Clinton has 74 more delagates than Obama. Basically it's still a dead heat.
For the republicans, McCain seems to have tied up the nomination.
::edit:: Now it's a 69 delegate lead for Clinton. I guess there are still some votes trickling in.

Much to my satisfaction =)yeahduff wrote:There's a rumor that Romney's dropping out today, but I don't know. Paul and Fuckabee continue making fools of themselves and their supporters.
It'd be a pity if Romney and Huckabee drop out now. It would be a bit of trouble for McCain, and God knows he'd have a decent chance at beating Hillary...

If Obama wins the democratic nomination, I will vote for him, no doubt about it. If Clinton wins the democratic nomination, I will vote Republican, also no doubt about it. If the democrats want my vote in getting their person into office, they have to bring Obama up to the plate.
... I voted for him in the primary yesterday too. Whoo. He won Missouri by 10,000 votes.

I don't have a visceral hatrid of Hilary. I have a visceral distrust of Hilary. I think most folks who are classified as Hilary Haters really are Hilary Distrusters.yeahduff wrote:McCain/Huckabee would be dire for the GOP. You'd get centrists and evangelicals and that's it. The party base hates both of them.
The visceral hatred people have for Clinton is a shame, because I think she'd make a good president. But people really hate her, a large reason I went with Obama.

There are plenty of people who actually do hate Hillary, and use that word. But, eh, semantics. I find it hard to truly trust any politician, even Golden Boy from Chicago over here. But even the negatives we associate with the Clintons, the fact that they are hardened politicians who know the game and how it's played, can easily be strengths. She's a tough broad, and I think she can negotiate reasonably with foreign heads but still be tough when she needs to be.

You ain't seen nothing yet in regards to the Clinton Machine. This has only been little mudpies. If she doesn't get the nom until the convention, watch the mudslides flow. Shnikeys it will be ugly. McCain-Huckabee may not be a dream team, but the base won't have much choice. McCain or Hillary? McCain or Obama? Man we need some more political parties. I'm starting the Cocktail Party if anyone is interested.

Choosing not to vote or vote 3rd party will seal the deal for the liberals for next 8-16 years. Would certainly be a rebuilding/housecleaning period for the GOP. GOP needs a young inexperienced junior senator who has charisma and can rally the base and ethnicities.yeahduff wrote:The base can easily choose not to vote, or vote libertarian. McCain/Huckleberry will inspire apathy amongst GOP voters, and with Rush and the gang railing against both, you're not gonna beat Clinton or Obama. McCain's VP is coming from outside the presidential pool.

Damn it.
I don't like John McCain. He's put his name on so many abominable pieces of legislation, he could very well be less of a Republican than Joe Lieberman. And he's basically said 'screw you' to the base. He expects people to vote for him, and then go away for 4 years.
Huckabee's basically a Christian Socialist like Jimmy Carter. I don't want that in my government.
Mitt Romney may be accused of flip-flopping, but with him you get the idea that he might be listening.
And the alternative leads to a health care system that will suck thousands of dollars out of my pay, and when I finally actually need it I'll most likely die waiting in line. Or on the table because all the competent doctors moved to Mexico.

American's views of socialised healthcare always makes me chuckle.BeefotronX wrote: And the alternative leads to a health care system that will suck thousands of dollars out of my pay, and when I finally actually need it I'll most likely die waiting in line. Oh, did Ron Paul SLIP YOUR MIND? Or did you maybe intentionally leave him out? Once again the media shows its bias.BeefotronX wrote:Damn it.
