Wow that nose looks very realistic.Noses always look like that in real life. And its so dynamic shes just standing there. And if its in the anime manga style thats so popular nowadays.Isnt she supposed to have big eyes.Pimpette wrote:Whups. Seems I fail at reading.ShineDog wrote:He didnt ink it.

This one sort of drew itself this morning.. While I really like how the entire thing came out, after looking at it for a while I've decided I'm not entirely happy with it (background excluded, it was just something scribbly I threw in because white was boring).

and yet she can get the overall proportions of a person right without them looking like a twisted lump of flesh straight out of a clive barker movie.bob281 wrote:Wow that nose looks very realistic.Noses always look like that in real life. And its so dynamic shes just standing there.Pimpette wrote:Whups. What does that tell you?
Edit: Look, i was gonna be nice, and offer some helpful advice, but it's pretty damn obvious that you're not gonna listen. So here's something else, most folks here, can be quite helpful in offering advice to people, some have offered help to you in the past, and gave you some tips along the way. You, threw that back in their faces with some backhanded remark, insult, or ranting about how jealous they're supposedly are.
One of your many problems is attitude, pure and simple, you're ignorant, you don't listen, and when it comes to your work, you're quite asinine about it. If you think your superiority complex is gonna get you anywhere, it isn't, the fact that you think people don't need to understand anatomy is testiment to that, All professionals that're employed by the big publishers have at least a few art degrees under their belt before they're even looked at seriously.
You're a Rob Liefeld fan, and that, i don't really have a problem with, emulating him, well, you CAN do better, and if i were you, i'd be thinking about surpassing him in every way imaginable.
I can offer you this one little piece of advice, i suggest you take some art classes and learn what anatomy is, what art is, how proportions, forshortening, angles, and everything.
You're not earning any respect here, and you're DEFINITELY not earning it by insulting people with your lame sarcasm.

Our D&D group got gutted and three of us need new characters. On a whim, and to try out my new Mac version of Photoshop, I drew and overly drmatic picture of the replacement trio. My new character is in the middle.

hey, i know i'm not the best out there, i know i could stand to learn more, but you could stand to be a little more helpful in your critique instead of sounding like a heckler. you do have a point about being mean or nasty, however, you could stand to even listen a little, no matter how harsh or pleasant the tone. I'm willing to learn, are you?bob281 wrote:Dude I just gave a crit it was neither mean nor as nasty like the ones Ive gotten. Is this a double standard now I can get crits but I cant give them.Oh and Ive seen your work its not that spectacular. You could use some art classes yourself. Are you on wizards top ten artist list?I think not.Turnsky wrote:and yet she can get the overall proportions of a person right without them looking like a twisted lump of flesh straight out of a clive barker movie.bob281 wrote:Wow that nose looks very realistic.Noses always look like that in real life. And its so dynamic shes just standing there.

Granted you do have a point, but then again, they've been drawing for quite some time before they hit the big leagues, even they had to start from somewhere, and had a few constructive criticisms throughout their early careers.bob281 wrote:Jack Kirby and Dave Sim who draws these animal cartoons far better than you.Would you like me to name more?
i've only been drawing for about seven years now, and i've been practicing a lot since i begun to do so, like Jack and Dave up there, they themselves didn't just pick up a pencil one day and just decided to be good at what they did. It all takes time, i'm not perfect, i have a long ways to go, and even then i'll be willing to learn. The best honest advice i can give you is to try the basic human figure, general musculature, athletic builds, nothing too severe, your basic, run-of-the-mil human, as it were. And try to build from that. I know this might go against your preference for "powerful" types, but give it a try and see how you go from there.

Dave Sim's character is flat, oddly proportioned (especially in the snout), and not even wearing pants. I wouldn't exactly call myself a fan of Foxfire Chronicles (haven't had time to read the whole thing yet) but given the choice between that and the bland, Conan-rehash world of "Cerebus" I think you can guess what I'd read.
There are three kinds of people in this world: those who can count, and those who can't.
I'll start drawing again someday, I promise!

Agreed, this cycle of "he bitched at me, so I'm bitching at him" "Yeah well he bitched at me, I'm just bitching back!" has got to stop, as much as I want to open up a can of hell's wrath right now. I mean, you know, it was a pretty harsh crit considering Pimp complimented his art not 10 posts back, I'm sorry, I hope I didnt lapse into being an asshole.

Wait what? It's called cartooning. And his techniques are far, far better than what just about anybody here can muster. No offense to Turnsky, but Dave Sim is way better. Your points of contention are just confusing and looks like you're just grasping at straws because someone was saying something not-complimentary about a fellow CG-er's art. At least I pray that is the case because otherwise that means you have no sense of "good" or "bad", or in other words, a basic sense of taste.Sareya wrote:bob281 wrote:...Dave Sim who draws these animal cartoons far better than you.
