Brubaker is amazing but he's being overworked. inevitably his writing is going to deteriorate the same way Marvel eroded Bendis.

5. Why did they think they could sneak up on Mageto....Isn't he.....y'know...Psychic?

I just dug up (not literally) an old Marvel Super Heroes rpg supplement and it clearly states that Magneto has telepathic abilities similar to Xavier's, but at roughly 1/10th the strength. However I highly doubt that the movie Magneto is the same version as the 20 year old RPG Magneto.

hrrms, not that big of an x-men fan meself, but as far as the comics, "Telepathic Magneto" the only thing I remember is in Secret Wars (the first one), X taps into a latent telepathic potential that Magneto had. Now this Latent Psychic power, I assume is much like Dwayne Taylor's (Night Thrasher) and it gives him a mental block from would be mind reads.

Now its possible that Magneto has a bit more to his power than that, I mean Onslaught shows he has some mental abilities, after all, but they are so low, that he really can't do much with them.

I don't think it matters, honestly. His helmet has psyonic shielding. I'm sure it works both ways. Even if his mental powers were as powerful as Prof. X's, if X can't get in, I'm pretty sure he can't get out.

Although, out of all the inconsistencies and plotholes, I'm surprised that nobody has noticed that Nightcrawler has just (forgive the double-entandre) Vanished altogether.

I figure it was just 'cause they ("they" being the directors, producers, etc)didn't feel like it would work well to have TWO blue fuzzy guys in that same movie.

From what I've read, it was Alan Cumming's decision not to return . . . apparently he didn't like going through the extensive makeup process very much. He's provided the voice for Nightcrawler in the X3 vidgame, tho'.

If you ever saw the extras on the X2 DVD you'd see how agonizing it was Cumming, he sat there and rolled his eyes and crap at the camera while they did his makeup. I actually was given the impression that he didn't want to do the movie at all.

I saw it last night, and I have to agree with the naysayers. I won't go into it too much, because it's already been said repeatedly, but I just didn't like how they introduced so many characters, and then proceeded to ignore them. I also hated how Scott's death was inferred, and how Rogue pretty much disappeared. Boo, I say.

Just to beat the horse to death a little bit more, I read in one of todays free papers that the most expensive special effects shots (the bridge with the cars) were actually done in vancouver. They made an actual greenscreen 4-lane wide set for it.

(the same paper also had Halle Berry on the front page and on two other pages, so needless to say this one paper got too obsessed with the movie.)

As a previous note to CJ back back back: i too screamed SNAAAKKKESS ON A MUTHAAFUCKINN PLAAAAAANEEEEEEEE. I was the only one who got it and was le sad.


I liked X3. The only x-men anything i saw was teh evolution series and I thoroughly enjoyed that.


as for kurt, i heard that he died in some game or something? Guess not!


I liked Timmy, and I liked Angel's wonderful wings and abs even if he was sovery boring.


Er. And Phoenix was hot even though she looked nothing at all like a phoenix. XD!

Wasn't Onslaught a psychic creation?...and thus all his powers were based in telekinesis and telepathy...it's been a long time but I think that's right.

And I remember alot of stuff about Magnetos partial psychic powers...he even met with charles on the astral plane way way back when beast was still humanesque. I'd assume most mutants that manipulate energy...etc. Have a partial amount of telepathic ability in their control of such things.

But I have six beer in me and might not be thinking all that clearly...so forgive my ramblings.

It's a sort-of old point buuuuut...

If Leech went up by himself, he'd be disintigrated or crushed by something before he even got close enough. His powers only work at a very close range and Jean's whirlwind of piss and vinegar would have kept a young boy far away.

If Wolverine was holding Leech, then his healing abilities would have stopped working and he 1-Would have probably bled to death when Jean attacked him and 2-Would be in big trouble because of his Adamantium skeleton (isn't it too heavy or too poisonous or some crap like that for normal humans?) and that's not mentioning that going by comic logic he'd probably rapidly age since he's over 100 years old.

I enjoyed the movie, it was a good popcorn flick if you're not huge into X-Men. I don't really like Cyclops, especially the whiny movie version so I wasn't too bothered when he died. I especially don't like Jean so it was a good ending for me. Really, if every X-Men movie ended with Jean dying, I would probably be happy.

And of course there will be another sequel--after the Wolverine spin-off of course and the possible prequel--the sooper seekret ending after the credits showed you that Xavier was still around. The de-powered are getting their powers back, nobody really stays dead in comics, and there's plenty of untapped material from the comics to explore (Sentinels, anyone?).

Also, for anyone who may remember or who is going to see the movie: Listen carefully to the scene at Alcatraz when Juggernaut runs into a group of soldiers to chase after Kitty. For some reason, the sound effects editors decided the noise of bowling pins being struck was a good choice and oh how hard I laughed.
