One of my Will Eisner books said that superheroes were a revenge fantasy. I didn't like that the first time I read it, but I understand it now.

For a guy who isn't gonna hurt Lois, he sure did loom uncomfortably over her, eh?

I find it interesting that a man who doesn't want his actions to be known by the general public runs around wearing a brightly colored costume with a cape and red underwear on the outside.
Existence is a series of catastrophes through which everything barely but continually survives.

Obviously he is aware of the fact most humans see only what they expect to see, since noone expects a man in brightly coloured clothing wearing his underwear outside, noone can see him. It's super camoflague...

Or maybe he's got some type of Kryptonian colour blindness and he thinks he's actually wearing dull, inconspicious colours.
Så länge skutan kan gå, så länge hjärtat kan slå, så länge solen den glittrar på böljorna blå...

Actually, back then all the cities were being built in brightly blue and red tones, so he was perfectly blending in.

It's hard to tell what demographic this comic was aimed at. The simplicity of the story and some other aspects seem to indicate it was intended for children, but the story is about wife beaters, potential raping, and crooked senators.

Say you guys know about this site, Superdickery?

Its one of my favorite sites, just a bunch of comic covers and pannels of SuperMan being a dick, and other stuff.

The only people who don't know about it are the people still dialing into their local BBS with their 110 baud modem.

The thing that caught me off guard the most with this comic is the pace. I mean, that was like reading 4 episodes of law and order in the span of 10 minutes. I guess that's why Superman is so super.

Kids had to wait until Wonder Woman came out to round things out with soft-core bondage, domination fantasies and spankings.

It's a superhero! And she has a vagina! And she's wearing practically nothing! The puberty gods are smiling today!

Sometimes it looks like these guys were just asking for the comics code.

Of course, once they started stamping out all that weird sexual subtext from Wonder Woman, her uppity femminist attitude had to go as well. :-? A win-win situation for The Man.
