Women are fun and I don't have enough of them around me - but I'm in love with men. I like the way they look, the way they smell... the way they are. Okay, I guess I would count as straight instead of bi then, if everyone else looks at things that way, too...that just about explains my experiences with women too, anyway.
And even if I'd occasionally do things sexually with a woman, I don't think I could've actually dated one. It seems, though, that the drunker I get the more, um, promiscuous I get...with either gender.

I'm going to reiterate my belief that sexuality shouldn't be defined as "straight," "gay," and "bi." It's not always that black-and-white(-and-gray). There's a spectrum. A lot of people are on either side, but a lot of people are also in various places in the middle. Pimpette and Kat are near the "straight" side, but I don't think they're fully there, if they find females the least bit attractive, even when sloshed.
This is going in my notebook titled "Things I Didn't Know about Surface Dwellers."
I agree, Sparrow. It is my impression that there is a certain degree of potential homosexuality in everyone and that raising, cultural enviroment and other factors decide whether this homosexuality will be active or not. That homosexuality (and specially bisexuality) is displayed rare in conservative countries like Serbia can be explained by active repression, but my impression is that it's partly a result of that conservative enviroment doesn't let homosexual side of individuals get developed. For someone who is potentially homosexual but also heterosexual to the extent, it's easier to choose heterosexual side because of peer pressure.
This is, of course, just my overall impression.

The difficulty is that you are right, but you arn't thinking as a conversationalist.
The color spectrum (an excellent example) gives us a clue. What color is red? Is blood red? How about stop signs? Stop lights? Are Red apples red? What about the stitching on a baseball? Is raw beef red? There is a whole range of what RED is, but a general agreement that unless you really need to know the exact color of the object, things within a nearby range of RED are just RED.
Likewise, there is a whole spectrum of what it means to be Straight, or Gay, or Bi. You're entirely correct. But unless there is an actual need to point out precisely where you fit into that scale, having the general concepts labeled makes it easier to converse.

Heh, yeah. Half of my Dutch family is in Canada. Toronto is pretty much my favourite place I've ever been.
And I have to agree with Rkolter. However, I think its not THAT grey either. I mean, you genuinely do have people who aren't attracted by people of the same or opposite sex. And there's not much variation that can go there. They might have the odd gay thought, but it doesn't make them LESS straight (or gay).
Keep in mind however I'm half dutch, therefore a liberal, and therefore I don't care either way

I almost dated a girl once.
Then I realized... WOMEN ARE CRAZY.
I have never tried again since.

yay for feminist theories!! (that's actually taught in current women's studies and sexuality curriculums)

The thing is, women are hot. Very hot. Not that men aren't attractive themselves. But women are hot.
And good conversators.
And definately not crazy.
And what more in life can one want than to have someone to sex, and then go to farmer's market with.
To be fair, it's also nice to have someone you can sex, then watch the final four with.
Luckily neither of those things have anything to do with gender, and have everything to do with hot womens.
"I choose to be gay because women are so damn hot and men are icky."- an arguement I once used with an ultra-right conservative.
