Buah!

I can claim partial responsibility for the weirdness that is today's comic. I kept Mark up with another freind watching The Big Sleep and playing Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles.

So Buah ha ha ha ha!

It was well worth it. The Big Sleep is a great movie. Plus we finally are able to go to last fight in CC.

A piece of advice for you Mark (From some one who knows about sleep deprivation)

Shame on you, pzam.

I did my best to eat up Mark's free time again this weekend by convincing him to go through the entirety of Super Mario World on the SuperNintendo in a two player game. It only took about seven hours to get all 96 exits.

As a complete aside, I'm betting I'd played Kill Dr. Lucky a short time before I last updated my Profile.

yes, but this time there was an actual comic...that made sense....

Can't say that I've ever actually played the game, but I've been told about it before. It is kind of like playing clue...only you are trying to be the killer...not find the killer right?

Well, like I said it only took seven hours to play through the game. That's a relatively short gaming spree for us. Heh, I think the time we tried to find out what would happen in Mario Kart (the original, mind you) once someone got 100 wins took longer (we were too evenly matched and gave up at around 60 some wins each).

Yes, it's a "Pre-Murder mystery". And great fun.

You know, everyone waits to post in this thing until *right* after I check it for the last time that day. Not that I've had oodles of free time to spend here, but still.

Also, I actually suck a little less at platform games than I was expecting to in my old age.

Unless they swap the fricking buttons and therefore destroy decades of muscle memory.

In that case I suck at just about the expected level.

Just make sure you don't get gamers thumb.

I hate that. One of my favorite presents from my girlfriend was one of those compendium of old-school games housed inside a controller you can just plug straight into your TV (you know what I'm talking about, right?)

Anyway, I love the thing because I get to revisit the original Super Mario Bros and Kung-Fu and play odd games like Milk & Nuts. The one problem is that on the first player controller, the B and A buttons are reversed, so I have to consciously think about which button jumps and which button shoots fireballs...

...meanwhile Mario has run off a cliff. On the plus side, anything waiting for him down there will be burnt to a crisp.

inappropriate reference here!

Somewhere between "Competent Toddler" and "Well-Meaning But Embarassing Aunt"

Yeah, see, the entire GameCube version of the MegaMan Anniversary collection uses A for shoot and B for jump. And then they decided to be nice and make X and Y have useful functions that are actually useless because they're too damn far from the jump button.

Sort of like Mackenzie beating me up in Smash Bros. In my defense she just hits the button a few times and then cries until I let her win.

Hitting the Gym and eating some power bars may help with the long finger travel to get to the special buttons.

If you look up "old-school" in the dictionary, you'd see a picture of me right next to it.

That's madness! The A button is always jump! It's one of the gaming laws! To violate it is to throw the world all topsy turvy and throw physics to the wind! Soon cats will be mating with dogs and the sun will come up at night!

Very true. It's annoying because you can start to retrain yourself to switch which button you hit, but I still lose the odd life when a situation comes up and instinct kicks in causing me to hit the wrong button.
