Reflections on a one-month-old web comic...

Post by Chef Troy »

Note: this is cross-posted in the Scandal Sheet! LiveJournal Community.

Depending on how you count it, Scandal Sheet! is a month old either today or Wednesday. The comic has been swimming around in my head for so many years, it's been very strange actually having it out on the Web where people can see it.

This past month has been both more and less than I thought it would be. I thought drawing the comic would be slow agony based on the last one I did back in college, but it's been pretty easy - once I got myself to sit down and get started. (A big part of that is being able to do the lettering on the computer, it's true.)

I wasn't expecting to have such completely narcissistic pride of ownership. I am absurdly flattered every time someone tells me they like the comic - and that flattered feeling soars to exponentially loftier heights when someone tells someone else that they like the comic and I happen to hear about it. I find myself clicking over to the comic and just... looking at it... a couple of times a day.

I've also been proud of the slow but steady way people have been joining the Scandal Sheet! LiveJournal Community. It was a particularly special moment for me when people whose names I didn't recognize started signing up.

I just wanted to take a moment to thank all of you who've been supporting Scandal Sheet! and passing the URL on to your friends. It means a lot to me.
