Highlander and fuzzy dice
Yo yo! SO like I said in the most recent rant, we were watching Highlander 3 and noting its rediculous stupidity. Are there any highlander fans who want to defend these HIDEOUSLY BAD movies? Now I"m not saying it's ALL bad. There ARE swords, which is good, but the plots have so MANY HOLES (each movie adds about thirty plot holes to the over all premise of the series) that I can see my house through it! Not that that makes any sense, but it still doesn't correct all the NON-attention to detail in those movies. LET ME GIVE AND FLIPPING EXAMPLE. In the first movie NO HIGHLANDER HAD ANY SPECIAL POWERS. Macloed killed that one psycho guy that killed sean connery. He was then THE ONLY ONE since, as he HAS TO STATE every time he lopps of a head "there can be only one". WHY he says this EVERY FLIPPING TIME he cuts off a head, I dunno. it was KINDA dramatic the first time, but he said it like THREE times in the first movie, about 4 times in the second (which, but the way, was REALLY dumb with the whole other life future past THING going on) and in the third movie, MY GOD, he says it like 15 times to the point where you want to strangle him, and yank off his head and say "and you've obviously NOT that last one!" So, yeah, anyone wanna defend these movie? Let's talk about Highlander 2. SEANO CONNERY, THE DUDE, comes back to life when Macleod realizes that all he has to do is say Connery's NAME. HELLO??? Does this mean that Macloed never accidentall just said connery's damn name EVER SINCE CONNERY DIED IN THE FIRST FILM? this is like 200 years later or something! Granted all the technology in the movie looks like stuff from the 80's, which isn't too surprising, except that the movie was made in the early 90's. ANYway, what was with the guys from a billion years ago having more advanced technology than the human race in 19xx? I just don't get it! Oh well, I guess it doesn't really matter, all that matters is that each movie contains an explicit sex scene, which is the ONLY thing holding these movies together! (oh yeah, that on the swords). ANYway, I think I"m done now, I should probably go to sleep now or something before I hurt myself.

Personally, I thought the first Highlander movie rocked! It was awesome, kick ass fight scenes, hot chick (for the 80s anyway) and his sword was a mother f3cking katana! And the villain with the big ass sword that had to be taken apart for it to fit in his case?! Seeeeriouly! The second and third ones blew, and I never even bothered seeing the fourth one. I say, they should've just left it with the first one and that would've been perfect for me.

hmmm
well, yes, I do like the first one to a certain degree. I like them all to a certain degree! (mainly cause of the fight scenes, action is my drug!) I've never seen the fourth on either, but I probably will at some point. I never really saw the series, but I bet it's more consistent than the movies.

The series was super-fly diggity fresh, it was my favorite show tell it got taken off the air. The only bad part was the obvious lack of sex scenes, and the fact that they never actually showed the decapitation, though that isnt really the best part of the fight anywayz, and theres a sex scene in just aboot every movie nowadays anyway so you wont have to search far for that....the cinematography was of much better quality, being in the late 90's and with the budget of a major tv network, and the constant fight a show plot never gets old, even though he still says "there can be only one" every time..........but there can be only one!! and they still used queens song for the theme so thats always good, over all, i think i like the series better...too bad you missed it...mabye they'll put out a collection of the seasons...i'd buy it...im done, bye!!

it rocked, but he needs a better sword.
but i did not like the fact he used a katana. (i think it was thrown in cause of the ninja turtles.) he was a scot, he should use a basterd claymore, or a 60 inch war sword. (18 handle, 2 inch hilt, 6 inch ricache {how ever it is spelled}1.5 smaller hilt and 32.5 inches of blade, and hours of happness)

There are two main problems with the continuity. One, the first movie was written as a 'stand alone' with no opening for a sequal and two, the second movie. The third movie is best treated as a direct sequal to the first movie, ignoring the second movie altogether (a lot of people I know refer to it as Highlander 3: The Apology). The third movie is a decent sequal, but doesn't capture the raw coolness of the first movie; which the series, surprising, does. The fourth movie is totally kick-ass, particularly if you're familiar with and enjoy the TV series. In practical terms the 4th movie is the cinematic equivalent of Star Trek : Generations, in that any future movies will be based of the characters in the TV series (a positive move, since the TV series wasn't written as a close-ended story like the first movie was). If you can catch the director's cut of the second movie, it's actually pretty decent, but only as a stand-alone.
Really, the continuity changes don't bother me much. Then again I watch a lot of anime. Highlander doesn't have anything on the Japanese when it comes to random, pointless continuity changes.

excellent, Topher, excellent! It is true, katanas are the only true swords! They have been perfected over thousands of years and they are the ultimate blades! The most redeeming part ABOUT Highlander was that he used a katana!
Hmm, I think I will try to catch the show, it used to air on the scifi channel but I don't think it does anymore. ANYway, I think the movies would've been alot better had they taken themselves more seriously and not thrown the characters into the oddest and most rediculous situations (like gettings thrown into an asylum after randomly getting asulted by four badmouth black guys in a dark alley).
