I grew up in Texarkana actually. When they closed the Grim Hotel, I did a photo essay on what it had become that accompanied a news piece commemorating it's "life". I always thought that it's name had potential for something though. So, over a decade later, I pulled out some photos and messed with them a little bit in photoshop. So I suppose the answer to your question is Yes, that's where it's from.

For what it's worth, I didn't know that was a picture. I though you had drawn it. Very cool to know that somewhere in the world, there is/was a hotel named Hotel Grim. Life is good.

The former Hotel in Texarkana is a very depressing place long removed from it's previous glory. In it's heyday, the Glen Miller Band and their contemporaries would play in the ballroom. And supposedly Bonnie and clyde stayed there. Weirdness abounds.

Sadly, the original Hotel's naming is much more mundane than that... It was the owner's last name.
