html question

Postby Bobadventures on Sun Feb 14, 2010 6:30 pm

Hey, does anybody know the html code to make a link that will just take the viewer to another point on the same webpage? Like the bullet points in a Wikipedia article, where if you click one on the index at the top of the page, it will automatically scroll down to that section of the article. I tried looking at the Wikipedia source code, and I found it confusing. Any ideas?

You use <a name="bookmark"></a> to mark the place where you want to move to.

To link to that from the same page use <a href="#bookmark">go to bookmark</a>

where bookmark is just a name of the location.

Thanks! I've wanted to know how to do that for a long time.
