heat shimmer

Post by Datachasers »

i need a "heat shimmer" effect in photoshop or a "fractal effect" showing a distorted view - im thinking i might be able to do it with a P-7 effect but im not sure how - its for a visual effect of a anti grav vehicle - any ideas ?

I read this and thought "Hey yeah, how *would* you do that?" And after about ten minutes (I have a short attention span) worth of fiddling in Photoshop I hit Google and I found this.

It might not work realistically for the way he wants to use it, but it could possibly work for the more constant shimmer given off from a vehicle. Hope it helps.

Liquify the area in question, then after moving it around to distort it perhaps a light blur? that should get you heat "ripples"
