Site revamped, requesting feedback

Post by JTorch »

I've just finished completely revamping my site, and I wanted to know how it works for everyone. I need to know how it looks on different screen resolutions, different browsers*, how fast it loads the first time and consecutive times it is viewed at different connection speeds, etc.

*As far as I can tell, in Firefox the only major problem is that the bottom corners of some of the little orange window thingies are kinda wonky, but that's minor; in Internet explorer, for me anyway, there's too many things wrong to list
.

Let me know how it works for you

[If you've been to my site before you may need to clear your cache or hard refresh for the new setup to load properly.]

Site looks cool and works fine with me! The paint splotches in the backgrounds are a cool touch.

Jtorch, the site looks great in my firefox. I am using a cable modem and there was a slight delay in the page loading up as elements wrote in one at a time, but it was not distracting. The next time I went to the site, everything popped in okay. My resolution is 1280 x 1040.

Internet Explorer is a stupid whore that doesn't display transparent *.pngs properly. I am using an old version though. Can someone with the newest version tell me if it still has that problem? (I'd check but I can't install it because of the whole "OMG GET GENUINE WUNDOWS U STEALER!!!1" thing. Yeah. >>

Jtorch: I pulled up the site in IE7 and I don't see anything wrong with it. If you are concerned about a certain area, I will take a screenshot of that area for you.

It's a nice design and as a bonus, I think it cured my scurvey. Wow. I think the site cured my scurvey with one look. Image

Two minor glitches I noticed, though...

1. There's a very faint orange line immediatly above the first set of nav buttons ("First" and "Previous").

2. There are some hard-to-see breaks in the border on the left and right sides where the image that gives it a raised look stops and you're left with a short length of plain yellow border.

The new version of IE fully supports transparent and translucent PNGs. It's also going to hit within the month, so beeee ready!

In IE6, it looks like this. [See attachment]
Note the grey around the advertisement and the First, Previous, Next, Last buttons. Also, my spacers in dailytemplate (and probably other pages) are visible, making it look really ugly.

I'm aware of that, and I'm going to fix it as soon as I have the time.

I noticed that too, and I'm going to fix that as well.

That's good to know. Too bad my OMGNOTGENUINEWTF windows will probably prevent me from downloading/installing it. Why must I be so cheap?

Well I don't mind the thing around the advertisement. I'm glad to see that the FPNL* buttons don't have the grey boxes around them though.
*This is what I am henceforth collectively referring to the First, Previous, Next, and Last buttons as.
