marketing is killing me.

Post by C.w. »

So, i've been trying to come up with a marketing strategy for This is:, and well, i'm having trouble. Not really with the "marketing campaign" in a large sense, the large sense is simple in theory. Adverts in community forums and small venues and so on to get a small base of early adopters, then working up through various opinion leaders until a critical mass is reached and the whole thing has a certain amount of intertia to where toplists become viable. Of course, that's pretty far off.

It's the short term advertising i'm having troubles with. You see, i have a rather hard time describing This is: without sounding like a rattling idiot in the process. Even with the exhorbitant amount of writing required for This is: i consider myself a horrible writer (well, not horrible, but not "oh wow, look at that, that's rather something isn't it?") especially when it comes to abstractish doodads.

In short, i'm looking for all manner of critique, ideas, thoughts, anything on how my marketing stuff looks - especially if you have any idea of how to get the gist of the whole lot across without sounding like a gibbering nincompoop. (like me.)

This is where i keep most of my advertising images - sample comics, adverts and various banners that i've accrued in submitting to places (i like to give each place a different banner, especially since they are so easy to make.)

This is a pitch i made in this form (which did quite well actually) but subsequent pitches have been far less... useful. I attribute my success in this forum to you all simply being a very nice lot.

Thank you so much for any help you can provide!

word of mouth--that's my style. That, as well as constant promotion on my MySpace profile--it's a great way to get random people to check it out
