Is this worth continuing?

Post by Alias Pseudonym »

Eh, ok, I'm done. Won't be restarting this any time soon. Original post removed for iffy legality.

Only you can decide if something you do for fun is worth continuing. If you enjoy doing it, then by all means continue, if you don't, then don't continue. Just remember that most sprite comics are something the creator does for themselves, and simply won't carry a serious audience unless it's something truly original and inspired like 8-bit theater.

If you've got time between doing strips of Vigil (a comic I'd say IS worth continuing, and given enough time and effort would eventually build an audience worth catering to) and you just plain want to work on it, then go for it. If you don't want to work on it, then don't.

I don't read "sprite" comics. If you want my attention, draw something with original characters.

Well, my interpretations are original, anyway. And I was aiming more for an 'In Wily's Defense' feel. Haven't actually read 8-bit theatre.

Anyway, thank you for that rousing round of indifference, I suppose it was to be expected. Looks like I'll only be continuing this if my little brother bothers me a LOT. I don't like making sprites much anyway.

(Seriously, though, people, skip to comic 4 and tell me if the mustache thing makes you laugh out loud. I know it always does for me.)

MSP: I have, actually. It's called Vigil. This would just be a little side project.

In my humble opinion, there are pursuits more worthy and surely more fulfilling.

Ponder for a moment how old 16-bit side-scrollers are.
Now think about how many there are.
Now think about how much time you put into making those.

Sure it's a good way to spend time?

No, because you're actually violating the terms of service by using ripped sprites. You may want to consider investing your time in a less illegal pursuit.
