The ninja-pirate comic was hilarious. Too bad it was such a
short comic and that El Ninja had to walk the plank just
because some gipsy (err... ARG-cast?) said he had to go.
Since when does walking the plank include a rowing boat
beneath it, by the way?
I laughed my ass off when the robot-pirate-ninja aliens showed
up, by the way... nice. Especially nice since it fitted with the
prophecy of "randomness".
Sweet drawing style and inking... Sah-weet!

Well, enough of me praising you so/too much. I've seen
a few ARG-references and forum-related stuff, but I'm way
too lazy to sum them all up.
Err... that's all I've got to say for now, I guess.

Woo! A response. I'm glad you liked the stuff. Walking the plank never involves a boat, unless of course the ninja uses his extreme ninja skill to craft a row boat before he even hits the water. Ninjas are crafty like that. I didn't explain it in the story because there wasn't room. And I also might have just made it up.

And no, the Gypsy isn't an ARG character, the only actualy character cameo I had was Human-Cliff. Sorry I don't have more real stuff to put up. I'm workin' on it, maybe, hopefully. Got big plans, but they're very big, so the feasibility is always a factor. I'm being very vague, sorry.

Ninja-crafting a craft... err... boat? Nice.
I'm pretty sure the gypsy and the bartender are ARG chars though.
Sure, the gypsy might be all twisted and distorted in every possible
way so it doesn't LOOK like an ARG character, but hey... underneath
the looks.......

I'm not even going to respond to you vaguey vagueynessiness, by
the way. That's just not good enough for me. :p

Okay okay. One for the money, Two for the show, Three to get ready and now For mah take on The Ninja WHo Would Be a Pirate (TNWWBAP).

As usual, the humor in TNWWBAP is top-notch stuff and the highlight of the entire comic, baby - with some several highly memorable lines and scenes. ("Hive-of scum and..er... bees" )

Ah.. Ah also appreciated how the drawing style was adapted for the different scenes, particularly the beginning and the unexpectedly graphic fight scene. Chopping those panels up was a cool idea that Ah may or may not steal at some later date.

Overall, Ah enjoyed the way you made an original spin to the old story by making it about a boy ninja who wanted to be a pirate. But not only that, your exploration of the themes of father/son relationships and the conflict between free-will and destiny were prominent contributors to the success of your comic's ability to relate to the family audience. But in the end, it was mostly the amiability of the innocent and good-natured, but unfortunately foolish protagonist that made your contribution stand up above all the other shallow ninja bric-a-brac scattered throughout the net.

Ack! I leave for Florida for a week and everybody posts in my forum! Well. Mr. Bob and Dark Knight, but that's enough for meee! Aaand, that was probably the best review I've ever gotten, monsieur Bob. I mean... you totally got it, the whole deal. Because I really wrote the father/son, ninja/samurai thing before I wrote anything else, and the jokes were just last second icing on the cake that everybody tends to get distracted by. But I'm glad you enjoyed it.

On the other hand, Ah do feel felt as if the ending was bit rushed. No problem is too small or too big that it cannot be solved by one big hefty explosion. This had potential for epicdom! But don't listen to me. Everything Ah do always ends up being too long.
Ah just said that because Ah want more.

Aaand, yeah, the ending feels rushed because it was rushed. The last 3 pages were written, drawn, inked and all within the 24 hour period immediately before the story had to go to print. Ideally, the story would've been 8, or even closer to 10 pages, so that I could've developed everything better, but I'm far too lazy to go back and change it all now. Never wanted to go epic with it, though. I really like the characters, and may use them for some other project later, but I really wanted the story to have the ninja failing miserably and being harshly rejected by his father for it. If I'd droned on and made everyone love the ninja over a novel or so only to kill him off senselessly, I probably would've been mobbed. If anyone had cared to read it through, that is.

And yes, there's lots of subtle cameo junk, most of which I won't bother to point out, though I'm quite proud of what the Samurai's flag says when you tilt your head to the side. Aaaand I don't really see the Jade / Gypsy similarity, other than that I didn't vary my drawing style much for her. Especially not compared to the fact that I made most of the other characters as unsimilar as possible. Ah well.

And... exploding rum! Yeah, that's the ticket. I just didn't have time to write "gunpowder" on all of that. We'll pretend that rum comes in sacks too. And explodes.

I really need to draw some other things. ARG! More time is needed! Insert credit(s) to continue.
