While I was down south visiting relatives for Christmas I accidentally bumped into an old friend. He's actually and old friend of my sister's, but anyway... I managed to avoid the topic of sex, but, alternatively, I introduced a reoccurring theme of death into our conversations. It started when I made a comment about stowing aboard a ship and working my way across to another country. My cousin pointed out all of the dangers and discomforts I'd endure, to which I replied that if the ship were to go down at least it would be an interesting way to die.

When I got home, the friend had sent me an email. Apparently I inspired him to write a short story, which I found so amusing that I had to share it somewhere.
