...means 'warrior' in celtic/gaelic.
Go Sloane, fight for your Holden!
[sorry, just a random moment of insanity.]

Here's more from a Name Analysis site. Hehe. I love how accurate these things are, even with fictional characters. It's quite interesting...
Your first name of Sloane makes you extremely generous. You have a bubbling, spontaneous nature and a happy-go-lucky outlook which helps smooth the pathway of life. Also you are sympathetic to the needs of others. Interested in art, music, singing, dancing, and anything of an artistic nature, you could become a very fine performer. Your spontaneous expression stands you in good stead during arguments or debates, though you are perhaps too outspoken and inclined to sarcasm. A very real weakness of this name is lack of system and order. The use of this name makes it extremely difficult to carry through and finish the things you start. It is easy to make promises in an effort to make others happy, although not so easy to keep them. You spend your money recklessly, seldom reckoning whether you can afford to be so generous.

It always surprised me if even part of it was significantly accurate. In any case, they say that your whole personality is affected by your full name, along with your birthdate and any nicknames you've ever had. So that's supposed to account for any discrepancies.

Yeah, it kind of creeps me out how on the mark they are. Seriously, if anyone wanted to know what the people I live with are like I could just send them there to look up their names. >_>;;

My name turned up almost all negative descriptions. Man, I feel good. I do think things like that aren't quite as reliable as we think them to be at first. We tend to agree with what it says there, even though the same thing applies to countless other people. (That being said, my description seemed pretty close as well.

)
I think I might have looked up Sloane's name at some point (I like to find meanings for names I've picked ^^), but I'd already decided to use Sloane as a name before I went to find out what it meant. It's cool that it's Celtic/Gaelic though, those names rock.

I agree. It can be creepy, but I don't take anything too seriously. Just open to possibilities. ^^ Still, it completely bummed my mom out when she read hers so... definitely take them with a grain of salt. I didn't like mine either, so instead I looked up the meaning for my favorite name and applied that to myself. ^^;;
Yes, Sloane is a great name. You do have a nack for picking really good ones. And I also love Celtic names. The Celtic meaning for my name is the only one that I remotely like.

This isn't the most comprehensive site, but it has some stuff:
http://www.namely-yours.com/namessearch.php
I can't find the one I really liked at the moment. I probably lost it the last time my computer crashed.
