What comics do you have bookmarked?

Postby Hugh_Betcha on Thu Feb 28, 2002 2:42 pm

You gotta do something to kill those first 30 minutes at work, that's why the Lord almighty created web-comics. Which ones do you have bookmarked as must-reads each morning to escape the creeping malaise of being employed or (possibly worse) being unemployed?

Hugh's bookmarks:
-/gu (I suppose this is a given to all but the most dense, but I'm as dense as they come, so I'm doing myself a favor.)
-Penny Arcade (i luv mike & jerry)
-PvP (Woody will likely ban me for posting that)
-MegaTokyo (There's the occassional worthwhile joke, and it's not hard to look at)
-Diesel Sweeties (for the Red Robot)
-The All-new Bobbins show (for the Red Robot, and the alarmingly high joke/panel ratio)
-My webjournal (it's not a comic, but it's laughable)

Why does everyone think I have a problem with PVP or Scott Kurtz? Really I don't. That's Tim from Evercrest.

I disagree with what Scott had to say about Online Cartoonists and profitability equalling success, but I would never ban anyone for liking that strip. Heck, I read it every day.

That's why it linked off the front page of my site.

EDIT: Durn typos

Oh sure, you -say- you like him, and you may even -want- to like him, but all web-cartoonists don't like Scott Kurtz. That's just the law; you may have a confederate son living down in Alabama, but so long as you're part of the Union, you're obligated to try and kill him.

But seriously, my mistake, fine then, -don't- ban me. Nyah.

I've cut way back lately, but I still can't start my day out right without:

*/gu (I'm so glad you're back!)

*ChoppingBlock.org (Gotta be the funniest serial killer I've ever seen!)

*InkTank.com (For Angst Technology, although I do check out Weak-End Warriors sometimes)

Others have been read for a while and lost my interest... these have staying power!

Don't listen to Hugh... He's got his head on backwards. Or something.

I blame Kentucky.

Lessee...

-/gu (duh...)
-Penny Arcade
-PVP (admittedly after a 4 month hiatus when I really didn't think it was all that funny)
-Diesel Sweeties
-Sinfest

It's on backwards? I thought I had my head up my ass. The combination of these two things makes for a unique experience whenever I try to sit down.

(Keenspot ate my first reply.. Frown.)

You don't have to like the artist to like his work. There's a couple of comics I read where I can stand the artist or his so-called-principals. I have no respect for beings who make countless promises and never live up to them (Make a schedule you can stick to rather than never making that schedule) or for beings who think they're king sh -- er, king of the hill just because they make money. (No, that just means you sell yourself well..)

Anyway, out oft he 15 or so comics I read, here's 5 that I love. ^_^

1) Polymer City Chronicles. It started off as just a gaming comic with really painful puns.. Now it's in the middle of an in-depth fascinating storyline. Hey, it's got a cute anime chick, that's gotta make it all worth while, right? http://www.polymer-city.com/

2) Greystone Inn. Cynical, sarcastic Gargoyles always get *my* support. http://www.greystoneinn.net/

3) Todd and Penguin. It's a comic about a penguin. It's cute, and funny and silly and strangely relevant to today's society. (Much in the way Calvin and Hobbes was..) Bring cookies, stay a while. http://www.toddandpenguin.com/

4) Real Life. Sometimes it's minorly amusing, sometimes it's "Oh god, I can't breath!" funny. Three guys, a girl, living in one house and they're aaaaall computer geeks. http://www.reallifecomics.com/index.html

5) 8-Bit Theatre. I know it's already been mentioned, but.. I like swords too. ^_^ http://www.nuklearpower.com/comic/ (Actually, I'm more a black mage fan. ^_^ )
