Ah, but your premise is faulty, because PyroSkank originally posted "Okay, if 'pi'+'e'='pie', then what is the numerical value of pie?". Therefore, in this case the variable "pie" represents pi + e, despite the fact that at first blush it looks as if it is written as pi * e. It's merely a case of a confusing variable, rather than a mistake on the parts of FlamingDeath and ShouldBeWorking. Perhaps it would have been clearer if he had stated the variable name as "Fred" or some such, but the fact remains that you interpereted the problem incorrectly, Franc.

How's *that* for nitpicking? =)

Converting "pie" to "pi"+"e" is programming, not mathematics. It is a confusion of levels, and your say-so doesn't change that ! HAH !

FlamingDeth. No 'e'! Speeling it with said 'e' is wrong and evil and such! There is a story behind the spelling, but I won't go into it now...

As for pie, we all said approximately, so that is where all your nitpicking fails. Besides, you can't eat a pifred!

But it wouldn't be a "pifred". I'm stating that "pie" is a variable unto itself representing pi+e. If you insist on the "pi" component of "pie" representing the number pi, and the "e" component of "pie" representing the number e, then Franc is correct because you are writing the term pi*e, rather than pi+e.

he asked that if pi+e=pie, what was the numerical value of pie...

using ALGEBRA, i first saw that the + indicated i was to ADD....
secondly, i knew that pi=3.14 and that e= (1+1/n)^n, where the closer n is to infinity then the more true the value of e becomes,and that the most accepted and used value for e is e^1 which = (approx.) 2.71....

SO 3.14 + 2.71 = 5.85
(remember tho that these are rounded down numbers/whatever)
