What is #88 anyway and why is shotgun required?

A #88 is the 88th prank, requiring a fur that has the Shotgun Mutation. Unfortunately, the only fur readily accessible is Admiral Shotgun (ret).
It is an unwritten rule to retire the prank once it's owner retires from service.
