(For background, I'm doing the whole Searching for a College to Attend Next Year Why God Why Do You Hate Me So dealie)
So we get a packet from the University of Maryland, College Park, about a big open-campus thingey this weekend. When I'd met with my counselor a month ago or so, she'd produced a list for me that included UM. After all, it's got a popular computer science program, which is what I'd be doing, and the out-of-state tuition was certainly acceptable. My father decided to go ahead and sign me up for the tour on Monday, seeing as my mother'd have off from work for Columbus day and could take the trip.
He neglected to actually consult with me before doing so; had he, I would have informed him that my 2.7 GPA and sub-50% rankings rendered my acceptance to UM all but impossible. The average HS GPA there is a THREE point seven, and 99% of their students were 50th-plus percentile. I mean, hells, it's not like I can't apply; I can always visit if I do get accepted. But what a waste of a perfectly good day to go somewhere I actually have a shot at!
Don't suppose anyone here goes/went to UPitt? Especially their Comp Sci program? While I'm at it, Penn State?
------------------
Over-analyze events in a comic? Isn't that an oxymoron?
